Vindoo Barvel was an Imperial starfighter ace, and one of the most decorated TIE pilots in the Imperial Navy. He was overseeing a training exercise as the head of the pilot school at Imperial City Naval Base when Lord Vader unexpectedly arrived and joined the exercise.

Vader quickly eliminated all ships, leaving Barvel as his final opponent. In an impressive display of flying, where Vader only toyed with the ace, the Sith executed maneuvers that TIE fighters should not have been capable of.

Vader effortlessly took down Barvel by countering his every move. After landing at the naval base, technicians discovered the targeting and navigation computers in Vader’s TIE had been turned off. Word quickly spread that Vader had eliminated the Empire’s best starfighter pilot with nothing more than natural skill and talent.
