Also I am debating whether to stay in either Kyoto Station area OR downtown Kawaramachi/Nishiki Market area.

Personally, I think Nijo-jo palace is the most beautiful and serene. But in general, all palaces across Japan are inevitably majestic. O.M.G, Arashiyama is so beautiful 😍.
