I live in zone 6b and I have large opuntias that live outside year round. I was very surprised to see that they handle the cold, frost, and snow like champs! I even got fruit last year! Great video ❤

Great video Lyn! Lovely Opuntia pads, but they are super biters dear!!! Now nicely repotted...hope they will root for you! Have a wonderful evening my friends Lyn and Hans! Lots of love and happiness!

Awesome video, Lyn 😊 Monster glochids on those Opuntia lol. Weather here hasn't been great either. Not looking forward to this cold weather we have coming, even snow forecast for next week 🥶 Thank you for sharing with us as always, Lyn. Have a lovely evening and weekend from Edith & myself to you and Hans ❤️🌵☀️🌼🌺🌸🏜

Love opuntias for their form & flowers!!! But most have extremely wicked spines & glochids!!! It's those micro barbs that make them so ferocious!!! That big cutting looked like it almost bit you!!! Glad you didn't get tagged!! That one has LOTS of glochids!! And it seams as opuntia age the older glochids get much more densely packed!!! The other thing I like about opuntia is the ease at which they root. They can fall off the plants and root on their side!! And the flowers are wonderful!!! Thanks for sharing Lyn!! From Morris Park in the Ozarks, to across the emerald isle, have a wonderful week ahead!!! Peace, Love, Plants!!!✌️💖🌵🌸🌹🌴🪴🌿💐🌳🍀🌱🌻🌾😃👍

Thanks Lyn, for the upload. You're right there really are some cacti with stingy spines and tweezers are a great tool to handle them. 😃😃

Really looks lethal ! 😬
But what a "classical cactus" ! 🤗
And those flowers on it are fantastic ! 🌸🌵🌸

"Marmite of the cactus world" - love it, it describes them perfectly. I love them as long as I don't have to touch them.

Cor, love a good Opuntia video 😎 Not seen an Opuntia aciculata before as far as I can remember, nice one 🙂 Yep, Scott and I don't mind an Opuntia 😁 Good idea with the grit, I do that too 😎 Hope you and Hans have a lovely evening 😊😊🌵🌵

Hi Lyn🙌! It's a coincidence that my Consolea rubescens had 2 pads knocked off and I potted them up after a week in a dry mix for the winter. I can't get rid of my Consolea. It's a favourite of mine😊💖I enjoyed watching🤲🌟

Hi and I enjoyed your potting up of those opuntia cuttings. I've not used the gravel only method so far but it seems to be pretty successful and I'll definitely be using that method next time I take cuttings.

Hi Lyn, love the video, I dont know why but it made me giggle, the opuntias look like people, with a head and body ha ha, they're little cuties xxx❤️❤️❤️

REALLY?! It took that long? What a glorious red color. Here the prickly pear (the yellow rose of Texas) grows like weeds but ya know, I've never seen one in bloom, not one. I love repotting vids Lyn. Thanks for the post!

There is a huge mound of spineless Oputias in the shopping center near me. I'm getting a cutting in spring. Gotta get city haul permission tho.

Excellent. I have several varieties of opuntia myself. So fun !!!

Incredible that you managed to balance these thick cuttings! Interesting about the marmite analogy. I'm def the type who doesn't want any opuntia in the house (because of their prickly hairs that are so hard to remove from under the skin). I like how they look as mature plants in the landscape though (we saw fields of opuntia in Lanzarote: really beautiful). Take care!!
