Показать описание
Opuntia is a fast-growing cactus. The stem has an oval, flattened shape; covered with spines - small glochidias.

Flowers: yellow or red. The plant blooms rarely in indoor culture.

On the diversity of species, the number of which reaches 190, this genus is one of the largest in the family.

The use of some species of opuntia in the household can be traced back to the culture of Paracas. Along with the use of shoots and fruits in food, one of the most important purposes of growing opuntia is the production of carmine dye. In recent years, in a number of countries, the plant is increasingly being bred for use in livestock feed. Some species of opuntia turned out to be aggressive neophytes and spread in new areas for them that it became necessary to use biological means to fight them.

Thank you for this great video! Very clear videography and gives me all the details I need (the seed close-ups were very handy)!

How far down do I want to scarify? I see the top layer then a dark layer, when should I stop filing it?
How long after soaking your seeds did they sprout?
And lastly did you use natural heat from the weather or heat pad?

😦 and i planted the seeds direct in the well drainage soil mix . somehow out of ten seeds two have germinated well within a week ... Waiting for the others to come to live as well.
I live in a moist area, in Northeast India, i water the seeds and my other plants with rain water .🌵

Can I order prickly pear seeds online
Also I live in pa could I just grow these indoors and keep them outside during warmer months? I know they need to pollinate to grow fruit so I guess having bees around is vital.
