The perfection loop is a useful knot for fly fishing. You can actually use it at both ends of your leader: first, to attach the butt section of the leader to the fly line, and then to attach the fly at the other end.

Like that a lot, using the fly to pull the loop through. Huge help to my fat fingers.

Exactly how I've been doing it for years. After passing the fly through the first loop, pull on the left side of the first loop. This will make the fly loop smaller. Then pull on the standing part of the line to shrink the first (non fly) loop. A smaller loop keeps the hook and fly from fouling in the finished loop.
