Because they are an X-ray test they do involve a small amount of radiation, BUT he amount of radiation you're exposed to is the same as the background radiation from your natural surroundings over a 7-week period.
It's far less than flying on a plane, for example.

Don't believe the influencers who tell you that mammograms are dangerous. If they were, then countries all over the world would NOT offer mammograms as breast screening.

Make sure you go for yours when you are called - catching breast cancer at an earlier stage means most women need less treatment and live longer.

Yes, but it is all in one tiny area near your heart and lungs all at once. 7 weeks of radiation in an instant in a small area near your heart and lungs. Then there is the problem of sqeezing, squeezing, squeezing. Then there is the problem of overdiagnosis where some women are treated for a cancer they never would have died of. Then they have life long health problems or even die from the treatment. Then there is the problem that women go for their annual check up, get a "you are fine" letter so they stop doing their monthly exam. You can get a mammogram and still develop cancer between mammograms. More than 50% of cancers are found by women, not mammograms. But they keep advertising their industry that brings in billions and they don't tell us the statistics. Read "conspiracy of hope." I read that if you compare people who have ammograms to women who do not ever get mammograms; there is NO DIFFERENCE in the life expectancy between groups. If mammograms helped save lives, shouldn't there be a difference? The industry refuses to be honest and tell us the true facts. Mammograms have never been proven safe or effective.
