Singaporean here. Dear Ghib, please never be affected by the people who think you're "too positive" about Singapore. Those are usually the most self-deprecating, unhappy segment of people anyway. They are not unique to Singapore of course, as every country has these people. But you're absolutely right, it's a great thing that you're showing so much love to the place you appreciate, and as a Singaporean, I too share your love for Singapore, which is primarily why I enjoy your channel in the first place.

Keep up the good work

The problem with tip culture (e.g US) is that it becomes an obligation, and you get shamed for not tipping, whether the service was good or not. And worse, the businesses start to underpay because they expect you to survive on tips.

That acceleration thing is SO ANNOYING, I once told a Taxi Driver to drive properly or I'd puke in his car.

If u notice, it’s usually the older generation that are smoking at the coffee shops. They linger at the coffee shop to chat with friends and purchase food and drinks so coffee shop owners welcome them.

I agreed with Gibsan San and his wife observation of poor restaurant service. Nowadays, customers have to order via order apps. Where got personalised customer service? I think our Singapore government should do away with compulsory 10% service charge. It should be voluntary. Customers who appreciate restaurant good customer service should give a 5 to 10% service charge. For those restaurants with lousy customer service, customers should be given the right not to pay the required 10% service charge.

For singapore toilet being very dirty, there are a few reasons
1. The quality of toilet is very poor with very cheap quality. So it doesn’t flush properly
2. The way we wash our toilets is by spraying water. It makes the toilet very wet & it gets dirty very quickly when moving in & out

What I really hate about our toilets here is that the water from tap stops immediately you press. How to wash hands in 1 second.

Yes, this charging of service fee when there's NO service at times really irritates me :(

It can be quite challenging to drive behind a taxi driver who keeps stepping on and releasing the accelerator while also constantly applying the brakes. Once, after a long flight, I was in a cab driven by a taxi driver who was swerving the steering wheel left and right for no apparent reason. I had to ask him to stop that behavior.

There are some other bad habits observed : (1 ) Abuse of supermarkets trolleys - some push them to their homes. Some even worst, leave them at roadside. (2) Hire bicycles - Some don’t return them to designated spots. A large number do return them to designated spots but don’t brother to park neatly. (3) Inconsiderate manual bicycle riders / PMD / PMA riders zooming on pedestrian walkways, pedestrian crossings without dismounting & push which is against traffic laws.

Your point about cab drivers resonates with me. My brother-in-law is Singaporean, and he drives a cab as well. I always wondered why he drives like that, but never bothered to ask him because I thought that's just how he drives.

Tipping culture in America is bad. It's actually thought of as customary/ mandatory by service staff despite the original idea of it being voluntary. Might as well state a standard service charge.

Totally agree with wife in regard to the air con in train. It’s so suffocating. Don’t forgot we are wearing our heattech inside. Sweating inside!! Not only in Japan, in some other countries with winter season, they do not switch on the aircon indoors.

I went to a coffee shop in Okinawa, from the photos online it looked gorgeous. When I walked in the smoke smell nearly knocked me over!

I can totally relate to number 2! Hate sitting in these kind of cab. The drivers themselves won’t have motion sickness, but passengers will.

When it is too cold in the office, can always put on a jacket but if it is too warm, it not like people can easily rectify it.

I’m Singaporean and I get cold easily. My colleagues always questions me why I wear jacket in the office and they can never get it😂

The coffee shop actually has separate smoking and non-smoking areas

toilet part is very simple, MBS and Changi airport are all tourist attraction which serve as a first impression of the country, we can find cleaner station inside airport toilet just to do frequent cleaning but outside toilet probably get cleaned 2 to 3 times per day perhaps.
Europe very difficult to find public toilet that is free to use, some fast food do charge the patrons a small fee and train station, shopping centre do not offer free toilet too.

Public toilet conditions is a reflection of us as members of the public. Filthy toilets is a result of unselfish mentality of the last user. I fully agree with you about the difference in the toilets in Japan👍

I was at Star Vista in early November last year and had to visit the ladies on level 1. The 2 weeks prior, i was having a holiday in Japan. So anyway, i joined the short queue at the female toilet at Star Vista and when it was my turn, i entered the cubicle and saw the content that was not flushed by the previous user, i left the cublcle and went straight to the hand washing area to ask her to come back to flush the toilet. I made it a point to talk to her audible enough for the rest to hear that this is a public toilet and everyone has a duty to take care of public property. Moreover, she is in her 40s, very young lady who should know what is right or wrong. When i told her that she did not flush, she went "I did not flush??" and i walked her to the cubicle and ensure she pressed the flush button fully to clear the content. It was truly disturbing to me and i wondered what is so diffcult to do your civic duty right? Japan is way ahead of many us in this sense.
