Also there compact size and low weight make them so versatile!! A 5.3L N/A is good for around 500hp (crank) with stock heads (799/706), upgraded cam, injectors, intake, headers, a tune, and full exhaust

Factory oil pumps are already made by melling, and also, dont widdle with high pressure oil pumps, go with high volume pumps. Pumps pump volume, not pressure. Pressure is resistance to the volume being pumped.

I'm not sure how, but my dad managed to buy a l33 for only 200 bucks, and the same goes for his s10. Now all together he's built a 500whp 11- second truck for around 3k, it's ridiculous.

Aluminum may be lighter but iron handles more

I love GMT800 trucks so much. What I wouldn’t do for a Yukon Denali in Bermuda Blue.

I like high volume over high pressure oil pumps.

I can attest they are indestructible in street form no coolant, (over heated so many times but never blew up before I fixed the radiator) never changed the oil, (mainly because it changed itself thanks due to an oil leak) it just kept going, heck never used an air filter why bother the carbon build up was catching most of the dirt anyway. The TRX that T-boned me was the only reason the 2001 POS Suburban was put out to pasture finally. Engine still runs fine trying to clean it up, and put in another one this time it might get taken care of better as that year Suburban is hitting classic status.

In my opinion the iton block is the go to for drag racing and big power, but if you want an autocross or drift car i would go alumi block. You dont need as much power and they are a lot lighter.

Id like to make it a beast without straying from what he loves about it. He loved the gxp I wanna make a gtxp. Supercharged 5.3 Grand Prix. It's a 2 door two 😈. I have a 2008 Chevy Silverado with the 5.3LS in it that I want to pull and put in a 04-12 Chevy Colorado/GMC Canyon. I want to rebuild it from rolling assembly to intake using a factory head setup for street driving with occasional strip time I plan on driving this. Later I’d like to add a supercharger without doing anymore work besides a good tune when I have the funds. What would you suggest? I was thinking Summit Racing LS Pro parts mostly.

What do you think is better for building a 600hp daily driver has to stay reliable, L59 and L33, I have a 2006 Yukon SLT 4x4 with L59 motor flex fuel. I need her to stay RELIABLE all day every day.

Sloppy stage 2 cams seems to be doing well on these 5.3 -6.0 without tuning issues
