In this unusual lawsuit filed in 2014, milk truck drivers in the state of Maine claimed that Oakhurst Dairy owed them millions of dollars in overtime pay. Their argument centered around a single sentence in the overtime laws for the state of Maine. The case was initially raised because of ambiguity created by the lack of a serial comma (also known as the the Oxford comma). As the case progressed, further unusual grammatical and stylistic characteristics came into play. Faulty parallelism (a grammatical inconsistency) and asyndeton (a stylistic choice) were supporting linguistic evidence in this case.

This video breaks down the key components of the case and will help you understand what the serial comma is, how to avoid faulty parallelism, and give you an introduction to asyndeton. Of course, you'll also learn just how expensive a comma (or lack thereof) can be.

I'm wondering if the interpretation of "packing for distribution" really makes sense.
Is packing for shipment really a different task than packing for distribution ? I don't think so ...
But I understand the verdict and think the one who wrote the text had serious problems afterwards.
Anyway, great video ! Even if I misread at first and was expecting the most expensive coma of all time 😅
