My favorite part of this episode is the 3 kids quietly eating breakfast- all seated in their chairs while their dad is freaking out on the phone with their mom. It’s so surreal lol.

It’s crazy to me that so many types of birth control fail, and people get pregnant when they’re aggressively trying not to. Meanwhile, some of us are actively trying with no luck. The female anatomy is wild 🤣

The fiancé asking "are you sure?" is probably because of the shock. My boyfriend asked "how?" when I told him I was pregnant! We were actively trying to get pregnant and he's a grown ass man who knows how babies are made! Now he denies having said that but he absolutely did and it was so funny.

EMS worker here - it is very possible she did not go to the hospital after the car wreck. Many people are very reluctant to go for financial reasons, and it's not like we can force them, so I was not at all surprised unfortunately

The rare knee pregnancies that even doctors haven't heard of. Congrats, it's a patella!

Re: the car accident... she's a young working mother in the US. I wouldn't be surprised if the medical attention she got after the accident basically amounted to a paramedic checking her for signs of a concussion and then telling her to seek medical attention if she thought she needed it, which she then decided she didn't, because the medical system in the US is a joke, and lots of people avoid going to the hospital unless they think they're actively dying because of money issues.

So, when I was in college, my anatomy and physiology professor told us a story about her friend. We were doing our study of the reproductive system and she told us that her friend and her husband decided they were done having kids, so she got a tubal ligation. She got pregnant. After that surprise, the husband got a vasectomy. The wife got pregnant AGAIN. My professor said she never would have believed it was true if she didn't actually personally know the couple.I have no idea what the odds of that happening are, but I thought you'd find it interesting.

“…and ruin it with educational commentary” false. These are my favorite videos. Much humor, such entertaining 💜

“Accidentally be diagnosed with a full term baby” my second biggest fear next to being actually pregnant 😂

I'm most amazed she found a doctor that tied her tubes at that age considering how many women with kids in their early 30s are denied tubal ligations.

40 years ago, I asked for a tubal ligation and found my husband had to also sign before the hospital would do it. I had been pregnant at the time so it would be after the pregnancy or during a c section if required. In the meantime, my husband learned how big the surgery would be for me when it was just an office visit for a vasectomy . He went ahead and had the vasectomy, only I didn’t have to sign anything. Are they still making women get their husbands permission while men can decide on their own?

This is such an interesting case, thanks MDJ!! It proves the importance of why we always do pregnancy tests when female patients of reproductive age come in. Even with tubal ligation or “ongoing periods” (PV bleeding), there is still a chance of pregnancy. And missing a pregnancy or ectopic pregnancy could have awful consequences!

I love the silent mouthing of "why?" When she drives to the hospital by herself. Like MDJ didn't do that herself while having contractions.

If you have a uterus and you're serious about not having children, consider getting a bilateral salpingectomy (sal-pin-geck-to-mee, 'geck' as in 'gecko') instead of a tubal. In a tubal they clamp/cut/burn the tubes. In a bilateral salpingectomy they remove the tubes completely. The failure rate of a bilateral salpingectomy is lower than that of a tubal because the tubes are totally gone. This also provides some protection from ovarian cancer as some types actually originate in the fallopian tubes, not the ovaries. It's a laparoscopic procedure, you can go home the same day, and it's usually covered by insurance the same as a tubal.

This is literally my worst nightmare. Lol. I had tubal ligation with c-section of my second. I was 32. My two were the result of failed birth control. First one the pill, second Nuva Ring. I was on the table and the doc asked me if I was sure I wanted to do it. I said not only am I sure. If it fails Imma come find you. She laughed... I didn't. So far so good... Of course I use an IUD as well. I'm really, really done tho.

The reality of being one of those 10-13 in 1, 000 is something I cannot describe. I have 1 ovary, and had tubal litigation during c-section with my youngest. Two months ago after being admitted to hospital for severe sickness which turned out to be hyperemesis, I was informed I was 9 weeks pregnant. My own local doctor whom I had already had appointments with never even considered a pregnancy test the odds were so low. I got 4 days to get used to the idea before I went through a ridiculous amount of trauma miscarrying, on the 3rd day I was admitted back in to hospital and went through things I will never forget.
Sorry to anyone who took the time to read this, I know it's only my story but I never ever thought anything like that would happen to me...just make sure you are fully informed of every little thing that could happen x

Can’t wait to hear how New Zealand is. I’d love to hear about how different medical care is there versus the United States in future videos!

I think the "periods, " during pregnancy needs to be studied more. There are too many women saying they are having regular periods once a month.

I absolutely love the kiwico sponsor on this video.
It’s like “Did you too not know that you were pregnant, and you know have a kid? Here’s how to entertain it!”
