Federal laws don't explicitly prohibit purchases or ownership of firearms by people with dementia, and only two states — Hawaii and Texas do. Currently, only 2 states (Hawaii and Texas) specifically include dementia in their firearm statutes. These states prohibit the possession or purchase of firearms by individuals who have been diagnosed with dementia. I suspect that wouldn't include the Nuclear Football, it would be like Hunter's sister-in-law-wife throwing uranium in a dumpster across the street from a High School.
