Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump holds a news conference at Mar-a-Lago.

Trump has been angered by the Democrats’ bounce in the polls since President Biden’s withdrawal from the race for the White House, apparently telling aides that it is “unfair”.

The Republican nominee, 78, had built a strong lead over Biden, pulling away in national polls and, more importantly, in the handful of swing states where the election will be decided.
