Wait a minute...Medicare Advantage plans have for years stated they cover ER and Urgent Care worldwide. Humana states: "Our plan covers worldwide emergency and urgent care services outside of the United States under the following circumstances." Of course, you have to pay first and submit claims to get reimbursed, but it's something. I wouldn't rely on it. As you stated, always best to get good travel insurance.

This really sux! The U.S. Embassy should be picking up the invoice and the Embassy can charge Your Medical insurance because it's supposed to be the US and is the US.
