RimWorld mods are GREAT, but the base, vanilla gameplay is also excellent -- and a great way for new players to learn the game! NOTE: This was recorded prior to 1.4's release.

as much as i dislike the vanilla game, i really enjoy this series. a lot more than the current biotech one. mostly because its just you playing the game, and not 3-4 hours of a stream where the gameplay gets constantly interrupted by donations, subs, bits, gift subs, interacting with a chat that you dont show to youtubers so its just 1 sided. i hope your next biotech series will be offline like this one!

Until Quill fixes the upload issue, I want to point out that this episode looks to resume where episode 26 (the last actual upload in this series) left off: 1 Aprimay at 11h.

9:51 The taming inspiration lasts for 8 days or until used; it may well have been worth turning Darcy off taming for that time in case another Thrumbo event happens..

11:05 An inspired recruitment is almost always best used on the prisoner with highest resistance, who will most likely take the longest time to recruit. Perhaps the only time a player won't choose this option is if that prisoner has an addiction that it's desirable to remove before they join, to avoid their associated mental break problems while going through withdrawal. It's certainly a waste to use such inspiration on the prisoner who's been around a while & is about to join anyway.. just as it's a waste to use a Taming inspiration on a low-tier, low threat animal such as alpaca, muffalo etc

13:49 Pen auto-cut is designated at 0000hrs every day; non-sowing designated growzones will only cut trees/plants at 100% growth for max harvest yield

16:01 The 'ambrosia sprout' event is one of the lowest tier events in the game, hence it's quite common for it to occur many times during a run esp if game difficulty lvl is lower than (IIRC) the top 2 tiers. It's not biome-dependent (except maybe for extreme environments, & even then it's likely to be tied to available open growing soil)

22:00 I'm unsure if this is also true for prisoner rooms, but rooms with multiple beds don't count as 'barracks' if all but one bed is set to medical

22:08 Hah! See above! ;)) Also, since v1.3 IIRC yields from tamed then slaughtered animals is vastly increased over hunted ones even if no body parts were destroyed, so more hide & meat for the colony

26:12 'Inspired creativity' covers (furniture) construction & art as well as smithing/tailoring products: anything with a quality tag can be improved from with this inspiration

28:29 It looks as if that doorway was already smoothed; no need to tile it as well (just as with all the other interior base rock surfaces)

Nice finale! :))

There would have been a planter among the tribals, but you dismissed him :p Without explaining why. For a tutorial style series, you've really been limiting your explanations are this point! All the social stuff which interests me most, like people getting married and having frenzies etc just get glossed over, I need to pause the video to even have a look at what you're just dismissing as unimportant!

interestingly, last time I played, I had a pair of rare thrumbos enter my territory, and one of them self tamed.

Thrumbo tamed do not stay in the pen:(, I tamed a pair and wandered like before without the pen

Berg's habit of disrupting combat by wandering where they aren't supposed to go is hilarious to watch, but would be frustrating to play. It's to the point that I'm developing a head canon on them about wanting to study the enemy rather than fight the enemy, but being terrible at being safe and covert. Maybe they are a secret traitor instead?

HEY! Things are fixed!!! In fact the other video is just GONE from what I can tell! I was going to delete a comment I made(I think) that directed people here but since that whole video seems to be gone I guess I don't have too!

On an unrelated note(well, it IS a YouTube thing I guess) I don't think I like the new layout, it looks too... round and... like it's trying to be fancier. I'm of the opinion "If it ain't broke, DON'T 'fix' it!"
