Imagine a tiny bullet from a sling can knock an Ancient Dragon out of the sky

He did this video because he forgot eldritch smite in the smite tier list

It’s all fun and games until you realise that you have at most 2 smites per short rest, and if the enemy is prone you have disadvantage on ranged attacks

Edit: Eldritch smite means you can CHOOSE to knock the target prone, you don't have to. This is why it's so good.

Original Message: You are not seeing double. I made a mistake in the earlier video and am reposting it with the wrong part edited out.

These videos tend to get 100.000+ views, so I'd rather not spread wrong information.

With great power, comes great responsibility or something.

For those curious, I stated that you could smite up to 9th level with that. You can't. Eldritch Smite requires WARLOCK spell slots, so 5th level is the max. But still, short rest smites that can be at range, deal force damage, and knock prone automatically are pretty cool!

I love those random A Crap Guide to DnD clips when saying Smite or Eldritch Blast

If you think about it, most of the Arthurian legends king Arthur was a warlock

Edit: i have a feeling some people don't know the concept of hexblade warlock

You scared for a sec because the JoCat "SMITE" is my text tone...

*Relentless Hex* would be useful, to get into melee range once you knock your target prone and are therefore disadvantaged on follow up ranged shots at them.

*Huge or smaller get knocked prone.

Another option you could take would that instead of taking Thirsting Blade, you can take Agonizing Blast. Since your Longbow is an Arcane Focus with Improved Pact Weapon, you can reflavor your Eldritch Blast as spectral arrows fired from your bow.

You can then keep just one quiver of arrows, for your Power Shot (Eldritch Smite).

Eldridge Smite:
**Once per turn** when you hit a creature with your pact weapon, you can expend a warlock spell slot to deal an extra 1d8 force damage to the target, plus another 1d8 per level of the spell slot, and you can knock the target prone if it is Huge or smaller.

This is actually my current warlocks build except I didn't take eldich smite, because I was making him at lvl 9, so that meant that I had access to banishing smite... which is a better version in my opinion and per the ruling doesn't also get affected as its the next weapon attack, not a melee. So I combined it with a crossbow and crossbow expert.

At least that's how me and the dm at the time understood it, and I still believe it as it was originally for high lvl pallys so it makes some sence for them to remove the restriction, well he soon learned to hate it with a passion as it made my character a absolute menace to him.

The Only catch, you can only eldritch smite once per turn

It's also a bonus action. (As opposed to the free action divine smite.) It also takes up a warlock spellslot which are not exactly in plenty. Meanwhile paladins get more spellslots at level 5 then warlock will ever see. Not only that, but you can stack divine and thunderous (any smite you want, really. Including eldritch.) smite on the same attack.

I use the jocat smite sound effect for my text messages and I jumped thinking I got a text when this played

I’ve actually came up with this on my own, so it’s nice to see this build brought up

Failed to mention the smite uses a spell slot
Which u only have 2-3
So for optimizers it's not a great option

Sharpshooter would also be fun with this build, speaking from experience.

The only problem with this is that eldrich smite is only once per turn, therefore keeping it on par with divine smite. It's a nice balance they both maintain

Also if you find a magic bow, you can turn it into a pact weapon, without Improved Pact weapons... It's just that you cannot make them with the Pact of the Blade... but as long as they are magical and not an artifact, you can definatelly do the ritual to make them in to your pact weapon.

This is basically my current character I’m using, currently I’m a level 7 variant human, I started at a level 1 fighter for a sweet +2 to hit with ranged attacks and better saves, and I took sharpshooter as my level 1 feat. Now I’m 6 levels into warlock with maxed charisma. +11 to hit for 1d10+6 or +6 to hit for 1d10+16, two attacks per turn and with curse you’re also critting on a 19 or 20
