Imo she had already made her decision so there was no point of the video.

She’s totally biased. Not the right person to bring along. You needed to bring someone that has never been to either.

Jamie is such a vibe, love it. While Katz has a ton of tourists and big lines I do genuinely think the pastrami itself can not be beat. I've had them all. The trick with Katz is order a full sandwich but take off half the pastrami and bring it home. I think it makes the bread to meat ratio better. Get some rye bread and you've easily got 2 sandwiches, maybe even 3 light ones.

As someone who grew up eating at Katz' once or twice a month, I can assure you, that's where real Jews went...not truckers or tourists!!!! I can't speak to it today, but back then, no one was better, Carnegie was for tourists. The Lower East Side was where we went on those treasured Sundays!!!! BTW I loathe pickles, but I can smell the "Nickel a pickle guy."

And did you notice the Pastrami was double the size at Katz'?? PS as for today, this woman's bias and whining destroyed this video. I don't know who makes the best today, but given she was insulting Katz before she sat down, she rendered this useless. Guess I'll have to find out myself, hopefully next year!

2nd ave is kosher, Katz's not. No tourist at 2nd ave; and the pastrami not fatty, not lean is heaven. The crowd at 2nd ave are the real deal in deli eaters, and with the personalities to match, my opnion, no better in the city and a must for real deli appreciation..

I won’t take any advice from someone who eats a great sandwich with a fork you are knowledgeable she seems like she’s trying to put everything down

I'm from Los Angeles, spent my life never going to NY. Oh, and I'm Jewish. So I ended up in NY for a two month job, and of course the first thing I found out was NYC is the greatest city in the world, Lol. The Pizza is to die for, totally ruined pizza for me because LA pizza isn't all that. As far as Jewish deli's go, thats my favorite food. I went to Katz first, went to 2nd Ave Deli several times and Zabars several times. 2Nd Ave Deli wins for me, hands down. I loved Zabars, but not because of the pastrami, Its just the whole place was a foody Disneyland for me. I have to say tho, the fries at Katz are fantastic

Totally agree that 2nd Avenue Deli has much better rye, and is the more comfortable place to dine. They also have much better Jewish Staples. That said, don't order the hot dog from the 2nd Avenue Deli...it's terrible.

Katz's is a better value if you want to share a sandwich, which is larger. If you catch Sarge's on a good day, their sandwiches are better than 2nd Avenue Deli and Katz's.

I also agree that the salt content at Katz's is inexcusable. Spot-on!

Katz's when you ask for the fatty Pastrami beats anything, including the old Carnegie. Send a salami to your boy in Army!

There is no doubt in my mind that 2nd Ave. is superior to Katz's because it is Kosher and the products served whether soup or sandwiches have the homemade feeling and taste. In addition, 2nd Ave. has a delicacy to their products. Their pastrami, corned beef, brisket and chicken in the pot are superb. They also offer seeded, seedless and pumpernickel bread, which enhances the foods. Katz's is good but not 2nd Ave. Katz's does have an excellent knobblewurst, (garlic) frankfurter. I'll stake my name and claim on the above statements and I'm a born and raised New Yorker.

Dang, I hope you never do another review with her. Talk about a biased “Debbie Downer" review.

I from the west coast (East LA) and of Mexican descent. My father and grandfather were meat cutters (butchers if you prefer) and I grew up eating good food. I swear to you, that if had to choose my last meal, it would be A couple of corned beef sandwiches on Jewish rye with RUSSIAN DRESSING (sorry). Damn, all that food looks so good.

CHEERS!!!

I agree. Going to NYC for decades, both delis, and 2nd Ave. is by far the best all around. A DELI, not a diner.

And, you two missed out on the best 2nd Ave. substitution…. replacing the rye bread with latkes. Pure heart-clogging heaven.

I have to say, I'm a 63 year old jew (not conservative) from long Island. Katz was on my bucket list for years. Had it a couple of weeks ago. Wasn't super impressed. Not such a big fan of the thick cut. Going to try 2nd Ave as soon as I can. Need a good Jewish deli on the island!!

In Cleveland there is one place to get a real Pastrami sandwich, one. Joe's Deli. Not the Lakewood Joe's on Madison Ave and W 117th, the River Joe's on Hilliard and Wooster. Everything in my heart tells me if I'm in New York I gotta go to 2nd Ave Deli for the real Jewish Delicatessen setup. I'll try it all till I'm bursting at the seams from food

2d Ave Deli . . . the name rings a bell. I cant remember where it was. Im basically a New Yorker (22 years) and Id rather, after seeing this, do the whole Jewish experience. The Deli is much quieter, the pastrami is thinner and they dont pile on the salt.

In my humble opinion, Sarge's Deli on 3rd Ave. is far better than Katz's or the 2nd Ave. Deli.

Lol They decided this before going to either restaurant

I like both, but I do love Pastrami Queen on the UES. I would rank them Pastrami Queen, 2nd Avenue Deli, Katz.
