Alternate title: “My girlfriend said “only bring one lens” because she’s tired of carrying my extra lenses in her purse”. 😜

35mm is my go to focal length. I've found it great for landscapes, cityscapes, stitching, street. Minimal distortion. just wide enough, but not too wide for subject photography.

Always enjoying the content, Jason. You're one of the most down to earth photo channels, and I love that you are actually showing photos in most of your gear videos, rather than talking heads just discussing the gear in abstract terms. Keep it up!

I did it in 2014-2017 on my original Sony A7 mk1 while travelling in Sth Korea, the Philippines, Japan, and Singapore. Paired with Zeiss 35mm F2.8 only. I still admire the results!

I have the 35 GM, which is phenomenal and one of my favorite lenses. I often travel with the 35 GM and the Sony/Zeiss 35 2.8, as the latter is so compact (great if it is raining or I need to keep the camera as small as possible). Prior to getting the 35 GM, my main lens was the Zeiss Batis 40 f2.0. I use that now as my video conference lens, but if I could get only one lens, the Batis 40 might be the best of all as it is light, covers both 35 and 50 mm jobs, is super sharp, has slight macro capabilities and looks great on the camera. The Zeiss Baths 40 is a way under appreciated lens IMO. All the best.

35mm is the only focal length that I have two lenses in. I have the Sigma f/1.4 DG DN for low light situations, and the Sony FE f/1.8, for general walk-around use. I typically pair it with a 20mm and an 85mm.

Yes, my travel lens most of the time. Sony 35 1.8, Sony 85 1.8, and the super tiny 18mm 2.8 from Samyang. My gimbal, full height tripod, lenses and a7C all fit in my messenger bag.

I almost got an rx1 but I'm a 28mm fanboy and so I bit the bullet and got myself a Leica Q for my 30th...it's freaking amazing. Still carry around a 50 on my Sony when I travel but as a daily camera the Q is fantastic and that 28 is godly

Fantastic video. Very useful with lots of example images. On my designated “prime” outings I have been making an effort to use a 35 mm f1.8 more. Compared to a 50 mm (my favorite prime focal length) I am finding the 35 mm more flexible in many situations. When not using a prime, a 24-70MM is far and away my most frequently used lens for “walk about” photography.

My Grandfather traveled the world from Alaska to Africa, Egypt, Europe, SE Asia using his Zeiss Contaflex with his 35mm & 85mm lenses.

35 is my favorite. That RX1 is intriguing! I hadn’t heard about that before, seems like a great compact cam!

I collect old black n white photos for my area, after a bit of good research I'm definitely going to follow their footsteps and buy myself a 35mm lens, I am a super convinced man, thank you for your great video 📸

35mm best walk around focal length for sure!! Loved the newer Sony 35mm 1.8 when I went around Omoide Yokocho one night. Can't go back to 50mm since then. Hahaha

I've opted for a 28mm F2 as my single most versatile prime for what I do. I found 35mm was too tight to selfie/vlog with. 28mm is tight but at arm's length you can still fit your full head in frame plus a smidgen of environment. I also like to use my camera as a high quality webcam, so 28mm lets you stream or webcam in tighter spaces than a 35mm would. With APS-C mode you can get 42mm effective focal length which is good for environmental portraits when needed. 28mm is also wide enough for most situations without adding distortion. The sony 28mm F2 is a tiny and budget friendly lens, but I've opted for the Voigtlander 28 F2 Ultron Type 1 because I can use it on other bodies other than sony.

3 years ago I sold my 16-36 4.0 and my 70-200 4.0 and just bought a 35 and 85mm and I didn‘t regret it for a single moment:)
