This is so helpful for my photography class! We were practicing loading film, but i couldn't really get a handle on it. This helps a lot.

Thank you for this video, My dad gave me one of his film cameras but he lives far, and I have had zero experience with a film camera aside from watching him when I was little. I hope I can show him some good pictures the next time I see him.

This was immensely helpful, I’m new to film photography and was struggling loading film because I wasn’t doing that initial
Catch step w the spindle. The film just kept slipping

I close the back then I put just a little tension on the film as I advance the next two by putting a finger on the rewinder. I feel it pull the film through and I'm all set. Good video considering how many new film shooters are coming into the club.

I am just getting into film cameras so don't really know much. My family has an old one and i am gonna try and use it. How do you know when you are able to take photos? I know it sounds stupid but after you have loaded the film, and closed the camera, how do you know when to stop winding or when you are able to take pictures?

thank you for reminding me about the spindle thing. I was so confused why I couldn’t get it to just stay in.

Thank you sir. I have an Olympus infinity mini weatherproof camera. It's amazing to me. I enjoy a real photo. Not the digital photos. This camera is so much fun for me to use. Thank you for helping me learn how to load the film. Have a great day sir! God Bless you and your family!

Very good demonstration. Thanks for this. I'm curious if anyone makes a dummy roll of film so people can practice with that. I remember I ruined a good roll of film as a youngster many years ago trying to load it into my dad's Pentax. It was slide film too.... Not cheap.

do you recommend to fire a minimum of three frames? if a roll is 36 shots, does it leave 33 shots? will buy my first slr, i don't know anything about film cameras.

Make sure not to touch the film surface with fingers as contamination such as soap and fats can contaminate the developing process with dust and some soap can make the fixer solution inert

Good afternoon!
Your video is very helpful, I'm missing the part that the film will attach to, please tell me how to find it online to buy? What is the name?

Why not load the camera in a film bag to have a few extra frames to shoot?

So if you have 24 total exposures on you film, does that mean you lose 4 of them loading the camera?

I have an old Pentax SP 500 and the shutter stopped being cocked after half a roll. I can remove the bottom cover and manually arm the shutter, but after advancing the roll it doesn’t arm on its own. Is it possible I loaded the film wrong and it is jammed?
