I just got a Nikon FG-20 because it has AP. I was overthinking film photography when in reality it is a lot easier than digital. Less to think about it. I like using manual lenses too. It gives me time to slow down and really think about what I am trying to capture. Your photography gets a bit more deliberate when using manual lenses. Thanks for the great tutorials on 35mm film photography.

I know this video is a bit older, but I wanted to say this was really helpful! I've always loved photography and I got a near mint condition Canon T70 a few days ago. I'm so excited to finally be able to get into photography!

Hello Jessica, if your slr camera keeps shooting beyond the number off frames shown on the film canister then you camera is Broken. ALL cameras have some way of showing how many photos have been taken, from "red windows" on the back of very old cameras, all the way to "film counters" which are usually near the wind-on lever. On the Minolta x 370, there is a small window to the right of the wind-on lever.
35mm film cameras cannot shoot more frames than the "exposure" number mentioned on the film canister, as the end of the film that is in the film canister is fixed in place in the film canister, so when all of the photos that the film is designed to give have been taken, the camera cannot wind-on any more film.

Hi Jessica, great video. Just a friendly piece of constructive criticism for future videos: make sure to turn down the sound effects (clicking, whooshes, etc) so that they sit at the same volume level as your voice, because at the moment I have the level set so I can hear your voice clearly, but every time a click or a whoosh occurs it's extremely loud and makes the video very hard to watch. Besides that it was really good :)

I like how you talk about film from time to time. You help spread the awareness to people who wouldn’t think about it otherwise. Around 6:30 ish I’m not sure if you meant to word things that way. You don’t have to physically go to a lab because there are several labs you can mail your film to. You’ll just need to fill out an online order.

Hi Jessica ! I'm new to film photography and just purchased my first camera. The camera came with some 400 film, but I'm wondering if you have to shoot with 400 on the ISO or if I can change this value ? thanks in advance !

I got a cheap Canon Rebel G 35mm film SLR. I develop my own color film (fujifilm). I think the Rebel G is a camera anyone can learn to use. I shoot in aperture priority (AV) and use a 50mm f1.8 lens. (I also have a Canon Rebel SL2 DSLR that is also a Canon EF mount for digital shooting).

I have an olympus trip 35 and a zennit 11 and I'm looking to try out another manual one since the zennit is a little heavy for me and it's sort of a family heirloon at this point. How heavy would you say this minolta is?
