The following are the three methods used in excel for auto-numbering.

#1 - Fill a column with a series of numbers.
#2 - Using row() function.
#3 - Using offset() function.

#3 - If we fill a column with a series of numbers we make a pattern, either we can use the starting values as 2, 4 to make a sequential numbering even.

I want excel to assign a unique number to each row and i want that number to NOT change if I sort my table or if I delete a row. In other words if I have 15 rows and I enter a 16th row I want Excel to auto name it serial number 16 and that serial number will stay with that row no matter if other rows are added or deleted and no mater how I sort those rows. How can I do that?
