shotcut and vsdc are just insane. Nowadays free video editors are becoming actually usable and good for a decent quality video. Personally, I use VSDC but I also think shotcut is good.

I really like shortcut, except for it not having an equalizer for the soundtrack. Luckily, that feature is being worked on now and sounds like it will be out in one of the next releases.

The Shortcuts should be moved into Pros.

Home, End, Alt left/right, A, Ctrl O, Shift A, Esc, PgUp/PgDn (w/ Shift, Ctrl), I/O (w/ Shift), F6/F7, etc. The shortcuts are a Godsend. How many editors allow you to jump 1, 2, 5 or 10 seconds on the timeline? The developer Dan Dennedy is a genius.

The first thing I do when I try out a video editor is to learn the shortcuts. Then the edit is a doddle. 🙂

Okay you cannot customise your keyboard, but why complicate things. There are only a few shortcuts to learn and they're cleverly assigned to their keys.

i've been using shotcut for the past couple of weeks, and my videos have vastly improved each time i've made one. the only problem is the random crashes, and the fact that too many videos playing simultaneously slows it drastically in the video player.

i believe we are all on stepping stones. I started with windows movie maker, then when i mastered that i went to shotcut. when i master that i will move onto the next step.

Trying out Shotcut since it is compatible with Linux. That's a big plus with me.

Nice, short, to the point video... thanks for that... you value our time. I tried Blender, Openshot, KdenLive, Olive and Shotcut... and Shotcut is the one I like most, for youtube videos it's perfect... S to cut, X to ripple delete... can't be easier.. Color grading, audio filters... what would yo need more... apart from the "face distortion" mentioned in the comments :-) Also, I like that the audio is not separated from the video by default... less clutter on the screen, as it's not needed most of the time... but you can still do it in two clicks if you need to.

If I need something more advanced than Openshot, I would skip over Shotcut straight to Davinci Resolve which blows it away, especially now with v17 (also free on Windows, Mac, and Linux).

Hi i just found you, love the content....i just downloaded shotcut today (was using MiniTool editor 2.0) i have limited editing experience, will be using it for youtube/travel/vlogs....would you still recommend shotcut? (i am a windows user: my pc allows for davinci resolve but its too complex & way beyond what i need) cheers
