11:23 Duteronomy chapter 38? Could you elaborate? I understand Deuteronomy as only having 34 chapters

They say that our history books may have to be rewritten as there may be civilisations that have existed before that have been lost through various cataclysmic events

I had zero knowledge of so many other gods in the bible. When I was young, I was fascinated with finding "proof" JW was the right religion. So I read what I could find in encyclopedias and the Mankind's Search for God book. After finding no logical reason why one was true over the other, I think that's when my mental dissent began. Knowledge will get you every time.

Michael Heiser, an ancient Greek and Hebrew language scholar, has a lot of research on this subject. The book of Enoch explains about all the "gods" in the Bible. The scriptures of Jude basically paraphrases from the book of Enoch.

Interesting the names of these gods were preserved in the Bible. I believe I heard someone argue that we don’t know the name of some people because it was a punishment from god. Yet we have these bad gods

I always say the bible is polytheist, and everyone says I'm full of it until I start naming names 😂

It is important to note that the Deut. 32 reading where El gave Yahweh Israel as an inheritance came to light from the Dead Sea Scrolls. The corrupted reading almost all Bibles, like the NWT, follow, comes from the Masoretic text that is a thousand years younger than the DSS. The Masoretic has obscured the clear polytheism in this passage, which suits JWs and other fundamentalists well. But the DSS and Septuagint readings are most likely more original, showing that YHWH was seen earlier as a minor God under El and restricted primarily to the land of Israel. This is also seen in 2 Kings 5:17, where Naaman has to carry soil from Israel to Syria in order to sacrifice to Yahweh. Someone like Kipp Davis is a good watch on Youtube, if you want elaboration on those very monumental passages from the DSS.

Can’t believe I never knew this. Thanks for enumerating all the gods and their relationship. This blows me away. In the Bible for all to see and never discussed! Is the Greek/Roman pantheon mentioned anywhere in the OT or NT? Thought it could have “snuck in” during the last draft.

So many Christians just read the Bible, but don't study the history around it and how the book developed over the years. That I find more interesting than the book itself, which was always too confusing for me to read.

You're brave! But these topics, including some very inconvenient scriptures, need to be openly discussed. Bravo!

🙋🏾‍♀Question: The God of the bible says 'Thou shalt have no other God besides me' implying there are other Gods. I thought 'Okay, so they're to discard any other existing Gods'. But my confusion came when that seem to leave four Gods instead of just one. It seems to me that the Garden of Eden God, Noah's God, the God in the Mountain and the God of Revelations are different Gods people took as the same God throughout the bible.

19:00 And who doesn't get any hate in the Bible: El. This indicates that El, although well known from other sources, wasn't seen as a false God in the Bible. That's because many Bible characters actually worshiped him until he was merged with Yahweh. If he would have been worshiped by Canaanites and not Israelites, they would have cursed him vigorously, like they did with Baal.

Not you in the Caleb shirt. (So Handsome 😊😊) Thank you for this, it was such a revelation for me learning about YHWH being a son of Elohim of the Canaanite Pantheon and Elohim is not the same as YHWH. What also made me realize he wasn't all powerful was when it said in Judges that the iron chariots of some army fighting Israel was too much and YHWH couldn't defeat them.

Good video. This is not what woke me up but made me not believe in God. The fact that Jehovah or yahweh is never mentioned in the new testament but only in the old testament bothered me. Learning about Jewish mythology makes God seem more made up haha.
