Check out Ritchie Blackmore and the band Deep Purple in this rare vision from mid 1984 in Stowe Vermont when the band were recording 'Perfect Strangers'. A documentary crew were with the band, but most of the vision appears to have been lost.....it's a constant process chasing down these lost gems!

Blackmore was 39 years old in this video. Ritchie will be turning 80 in 2025. My God, time as flown by to fast!😱

Even way back then, you can see how Ritchie set himself apart from the others.... He dressed differently, & sat by himself. He's a genius!

Dear youngest: Those were the times, where you had no smartphone and could only read a book or play with your fingers in such situations.

That was taken outside of Horizons in Stowe Vermont, with Le Mobile studio in the background. Very cool setup, reminiscent of how Led Zeppelin recorded at Headley Grange. My favorite Deep Purple album is Perfect Strangers, it’s likely because of not only the lineup but the magic of the recording.

Blackmore sitting by himself while the others stood together says a lot. Even the way he was glancing at them, it seemed he was alienated from them.

Stowe, VT, and Son of Alerik, the bonus instrumental track on this album, are beautiful.

Cool video showing that they got along better than the stories talked about. All the in fighting in music mags or video's from the members !

Ritchie and Jon were the core of the band, along with Ian (Paice). Without both Ritchie and Jon the current band still rock but it's not Deep Purple. It was the very reason Led Zeppelin disbanded after death of Bonzo.

He gives the impression of being quite lonely in this particular scene.
