Not long before Ronnie's passing, Ritchie Blackmore was interviewed discussing his working relationship with him. It's insightful commentary.
There is no doubt that the Blackmore-Dio writing partnership was one of the great relationships in rock music.

I'd pay for an audio book where Richie just tells stories from the past

I haven't heard Ritchie Blackmore talk bad about very many people at all. It seems like everybody talks bad about him though. Long live the king. There will never ever be another Ritchie Blackmore.

It's so nice to hear Ritchie speaking positively about Ronnie. Ronnie was a gentleman who loved his craft and cared about his fans. He's been gone for 13 years, and I still miss him. Whether it was Rainbow, Black Sabbath, Dio or Heaven & Hell, Ronnie always delivered and never recorded anything sub-standard. Thanks for the kind words about the Man on the Silver Mountain Ritchie.

I saw Dio on two separate occasions. As soon as he started singing I was blown away by his voice, even though I play his music often, nothing quite prepares you for the real thing! David Coverdale was the same.

You and Ronnie are both legends in my eyes. Rising is a masterpiece of an album.

I miss Ronnie James Dio so much...Met him once (after a 1992 Sabbath gig), and he was the absolute loveliest person you could ever hope to meet! As Ritchie just said...Ronnie was, is and will always be, a Legend!

Great to see some footage where Blackmore talks highly of Dio both as a musician and on a personal level and even calls him a legend which they both are. There has been some hard words between them before and also appreciative words as well, but i cant remember hearing such good words from him about Dio since they played together. Ronnie was so much more than just a singer/lyricist, he was also an instrumentalist and started his musical journey on the trumpet and also played bass while singing for many years and played guitar and i believe piano to some extent, he wrote Holy diver and Dont talk to strangers by himself for example.

Deep Purple was the first rock concert I ever attended… It was at the Long Beach Arena in California around 1974. Dio was part of an opening act called Elf. “Burn” had just come out, and I remember that performance like it happened yesterday.

I suspect many fans will be delighted to hear this insight. Ritchie may have said something close to this about Ronnie's contribution to his work to journalists in the past, but I am incredibly pleased to see and hear this today. Wonderful stuff!

Mr.Blackmore? You are one of my favorite guitar players. My older brothers rocked Deep Purple when I was very young back in the 70's. When I was 5, 6, and 7 yrs.old I knew who bands were just by listening to the music they would listen to. It was a little trick they would do for their friends. Hey Thomas who is this? Kiss or Deep Purple, Sabbath, Yes, Pink Floyd. I knew them all. Rainbow is a band I got into on my own later as a teen. Because of my love for Ronnie. Your time with him to me was Magical. It's so great hearing stories of you two together. Thank You so much for that. It's good to know you are still making music and influencing younger generations with Good, Real Music.

I saw this guy in London Ontario @ The Gardens for $5 Canadian. Rainbow were brilliant but Ritchie Blackmore was from another planet. What a player. What a world. Rainbow/Scorpions for five dollars Canadian :) and the show was general admission. I literally leaned on the stage 3 feet from Blackmore the entire show :)

Rainbow was the first concert I ever saw when I was just a maybe 7 or 8 in 94-95, my dad raised me right, Richie is the King, when people ask who the best guitarist is there should be no debate
