I'm glad page has some positive comments about Ritchie, , for me it's not a competition. It's more guitarist to enjoy. And they each have unique abilities. Blackmore has always been a inspiration to me.

Blackmore is and will always be my first guitar hero. When I was a little boy in the mid-70s, there were no Clapton or Beck records in my house and there were only two Zeppelin albums. But my older brother had practically everything from Deep Purple and Rainbow. So Ritchie was my first big guitar reference, along with Gilmour and Steve Howe. These were the guys I listened to and not the "big three". I discovered Clapton, Beck and even Hendrix much later.

Back in the 70s, both Blackmore and Iommi were terribly under-appreciated in the music press but the fans loved them

I saw both Blackmore and Page. Blackmore on the Burn tour and Page on the Physical Graffiti tour. There's no way to compare such monster guitar players, as well as their songwriting. The impact they made on rock guitar is equal in my humble opinion.

Blackmore's playing on Made in Japan is the most exciting live guitar playing I heard

Ritchie Blackmore is a Guitar God. The moment I listened to Deep Purple back in 1970 for the first time, I knew there was something special about this band and the lead guitarist. Ritchie is awesome.

I love Deep Purple and Led Zeppelin both very much. Same goes for Ritchie and Jimmy. Also a huge fan of Black Sabbath and Tony Iommi. Amazing bands and guitar players! 🤘🤘🤘

Indeed a real mystery why Ritchie's generation of guitarists say little if anything about him. I was blown away listening to Ritchie's solo on Child in Time on the Made in japan album. Jaw dropping

I love listening to Iommi and Page. They take me to places that only they can...and then I play Ritchie and I'm left speechless.

Perfect Strangers is a badass album too.

Deep Purple was and still is THE hard rock band for me and it's all due to Blackmore, his style is just magical. And the amount of timeless songs he wrote... The perfect guitar player in my opinion - creative, unpredictable, uncompromising.

Ritchie Blackmore is God guitar. All solos Ritchie Its komposice and logical saund after saund...not only technical, like other guitarists. Ritchie is the best guitarist in the world.

Blackmore stands above all of them live as he never rehearsed solos, all his guitar solos have elements of improvisation in them, you can listen to however many versions there are of a live solo by Blackmore and none of them will be the same, this was at the heart of live Purple with Lord and Blackmore capable of making it up as they played and the other band members able to blend seamlessly into the improvisations.

Blackmore might be overlooked a lot because of what he does, he makes sound easy.
Until you sit down with your guitar and try to figure out some of his work, (like Highway Star for example) you don´t realize that what he´s doing is very intricate and difficult to figure out and/or play.

Deep Purple In Rock was the first album I bought. Still knocks me out to this day.

My respect for Jimmy has just shot through the ceiling! That is a really humble and honest thing to say. I never expected him to regard Blackmore in such esteem.

Magic Carpet Ride: Ritchie Blackmore's solos start by lifting you up off your feet, they fly you around and then they tastefully set you back down. What a ride he takes you on listening to his solos on 'Machine Head'. Younger generations need to go out and buy this record. Nothing quite like them before or since. They are worthy of transcription note for note. Even though I've heard he likes to improvise, the solos laid down on that record are as worthy of remembering as the columns of a Greek Temple.
