Any competent guitarist can play the notes but no one but Ritchie makes that noise has that presence onstage or can produce quite that performance. The best.

Richie always had a perfect sense of timing and perfect phrasing in his lead playing, he played triplets sixteenth notes 8th notes, demisemiquaver 32nd notes, all in time with superb phrasing he never winged it like hendrix or Clapton, he had perfectly timed phrasing. Not to say that Clapton or Hendrix it’s not as good, but Richie had a different style, a more disciplined way of playing. Which is a skill often overlooked by guitarists.
