Drowned While Forcing Through - Eagles Nest Tragedy

On Saturday, October 15th, 2016, while diving in the Eagle's Nest cave system inside a Sinkhole, located at the Chassahowitzka Wildlife management Area in Hernando County, Florida, USA, The two experienced cave divers Chris RittenMeyer and Patrick Peacock along with their friend Justin Blakely dove down to explore the underwater cavern. However only one made it back to the surface.

I became certified in SCUBA at age 12 (PADI Junior cert) and my Dad always told me that I was forbidden to ever do cave diving. I listened. Today I'm still here... Thanks Dad!!❤

My theory is they seen something that made them panic, the 1st dude took all his shit off for what? Maybe to get as light as possible 🤔. The patterns seem to indicate extreme panic. Wtf else would've made the 1st guy take off like that?

Nitrogen narcosis or air toxicity maybe be the trigger cause of their panic mode. I think they already plan well about air consumption and such. But when panic kick in, everything is aside. that is why it is important to plan an emergency exit plan. A life line should be install at every exit point especially the one that is bit confusing.every critical point should have some pit stop with emergency backup item such as extra tank, light and life line to exit point

Being a born and raised Florida boy, I used to free dive a bunch of different caves, I'd claw my way down the rock with my hands to save energy from fighting the flow of the water coming out the cave. Had several close calls with shallow water black outs... scary shit.

I wonder if one or both divers experienced a heart attack or some other sudden health issue while diving? Might that explain why one of them started removing his diving equipment while diving? Was that checked?
