I've never seen pumpkin pie made with heavy cream or lemon zest. We usually use evaporated milk. Interesting recipe.

I heard a rumor that if you stand up while you are eating dessert.... all the calories fall through your feet so you don't have to worry about gaining weight!!! LOL!! The best saying I have heard though is "STRESSED SPELLED BACKWARDS DESSERTS!!" So when you get stressed out.... ALWAYS EAT YOUR DESSERTS FIRST!"

Well done Mrs H! I made an Apple and a Pumpkin pie and Cranberry Apple Dump Cake. Exhausted!

First mistake: Beat the cream after you add the eggs, then add spices. It makes it lighter. Add the pumpkin last. Pre-bake the pie shell to solidify it and not allow the bottom to soak through.

People forget that the store bought version doesn’t 1 have the pumpkin spice, 2 use whole cloves instead of ground, and 3 adds too much nutmeg before mixing it!

My son and his family were quarantined on thanksgiving 2 years ago. So he called to get his grandma’s secret pumpkin pie recipe. She said it’s Libby Libby’s. What? The recipe on the Libby’s pumpkin.

I have never heard anyone say that pumpkin pie is their favorite. It's more made for the tradition of it. I enjoy pumpkin pie but only have it on Thanksgiving. Pecan pie, peach pie or dutch apple are my favorites for Thanksgiving. I use to make so many pies when my kids were little and still at home. I still do make a bunch of them because for years we have contacted the local military base and had anywhere from 5 to 10 military people come for dinner on Thanksgiving and Christmas. I wish I could invite more because I feel bad for them that they can't go home to their families and I hate to see them sitting in a cafeteria on base for a holiday. They have always been so nice and thankful when they come and it is fun listening to all their stories and hearing about their families and where they are from. They get down in the floor and play games with the kids (and keep the kids out from under my feet while I'm cooking) the kids loved it.

Pumpkin Pie IS the most quintessentially Thanksgiving dessert, BUT plenty of Americans who agree with you in their dislike of it. I love it personally, but also at Thanksgiving, there are peach pies, pecan pies, blueberry pies, etc. so there's always something for everyone.
