RIP to all the girls Ted murdered. Especially those whose bodies they never found. They were all so young and had their whole lives ahead of them

My father was handcuffed to him several days as a posse member (yeah, those actually still existed) in Glenwood Springs, and one of the bigger men in town. He doesn't talk about it much, but I've seen him in pictures. He said, "He smelled like cigarettes all the time, and those eyes always made me want to just strangle him and save us all the time because he was just obviously a bad guy".

And indeed, he was right. He found out a decade later that Bundy had probably been the one that killed his prom date and ex-girlfriend, Julie Cunningham in Vail a few years earlier. He still to this day is angry that the jail staff let Bundy escape, allowing the reign of terror to continue into Florida. "We all look like incompetent rubes" he says to this day.

Lots of people have had the same type of childhood as Ted and never become evil! It comes down to empathy and sycophantic behavior

I knew one of his former Death Row Guards, years later. They said he was the only prisoner that gave them the creeps. Often polite but very creepy

Carol Bundy is a perfect example of disconnection from reality when you feel you are in love with a psychopath.
A psychopath does not feel love.

The morale of this story is that you're treated by society based on your appearance, not based on your deeds.

My Mom was in a bar in Issaquah in the early 70s when a attractive guy hit on her. She said he looked good but something about him creeped her out. Years later she saw him on tv when he was arrested. It was Bundy

He claimed his first victim when he was 14. A little girl that lived next door. There was a huge hole in the road due to road construction in front of her house. Its thought thats where he buried her. No matter how much they grilled him about her, he never admitted it. He wanted to keep his first to himself.

They just said the Florida policeman, that's it. When Officer David Lee pulled Bundy over it's true he didn't know who Ted was, but he knew it wouldn't take long for them to identify him so he tried to take David's pistol, ending up being a fight for his life, David said Bundy was a lot stronger than he looked, just barely overpowering him. Less than two weeks later Officer Lee was fired from Pensacola police department because he was a Major, (I think a Major), anyway, that was made into a law that you can't fire anyone because they have reserve training to attend. David won his lawsuit but refused to return to PPD, electing to retire and sold diagnostic electronics instead. Serving his country, caught Bundy for the second or third time, only to get unceremoniously, and illegally fired. Sheesh.

These docs are brilliant. Clearly so much work goes into them with the research, stock footage and animations. So yeah I'll give you £2, absolutely deserved. As usual you've kept my attention (I have ADHD, so usually I'll be flicking between tabs or or just fiddling about) and you've entertained me!

It’s disgusting how many people admire serial killers. And I mean “admire” both romantically and non romantically. These people get painted as poor victims of a corrupt cruel society, and it’s all society’s fault. No, they’re just monsters, plain and simple.

He very much was "sadistic." He would choke them till they became unconscious then bring them back so he could do it again over and over. He also performed certain acts on one in front of another telling her that this was what was going to happen to her. Thought her cries and screams were funny. He very much enjoyed watching them suffer

In 1975 I lived in Seattle and had a friend that was a detective on the Seattle Police Department. He told me that they knew it was Ted Bundy, but he said that Ted was so smart they hadn’t been able to acquire any sustainable evidence against him.

I wrote a paper on him and about the death penalty. He was one twisted individual that definitely deserved it.

Probably the best use of an electric chair ever

The fact that most serial killers blame it on mental health and the judge ends up believing them and gives them less of the sentence they deserve is beyond wild same thing happened with Dahmer

My career management teacher worked at the same prison as Bundy. He wasn't in charge of watching Ted but he did see Ted getting dragged to death row. My teacher said that " Seeing him crying, kicking screaming made him seem so small. He wasn't that big bad killer at that moment."

I don't know why the public thought/thinks Bundy was attractive. I don't find anything about him to be good looking, and his personality just accentuates that. He isn't charming, he's smug, narcissistic, and haughty, thinking he's the smartest person in the world. I mean, that's why he represented himself in court. He literally thought he could somehow weasel out of prison like he had before. It's really disgusting.
