No one was injured after a suspected drunk driver struck a Sheriff Sergeant’s vehicle head-on while the sergeant was stopped at a red light.

The crash occurred in the 800 block of Old Dixie Hwy. at 6 a.m. March 28. The sergeant was stopped at the traffic signal facing north on Old Dixie Hwy. at 8th Street when the suspected drunk driver stopped at the intersection facing south.

The driver, identified as Alex McKinney, abruptly pulled through the intersection, running the red light, and struck the front passenger side bumper of the sergeant’s patrol vehicle. McKinney then reversed and drove around the sergeant, heading south on Old Dixie.

The sergeant activated his emergency lights, turned the vehicle around and was able to conduct a traffic stop.

McKinney was taken into custody without further incident.

The patrol vehicle sustained some damage but was able to be driven back to the Sheriff’s Office garage for repair.

This is where OUR SHERIFF needs to be more like Grady Judd. Do a dang Press Conferences Eric. This is the exact point I was making in my message to you that you responded that, you may not do what Grady does but you think you do enough of a good job. Prime example here that you're not.

I have nothing but respect for the IRCSO. Even thought I blow Triple Zeros. I took it like a man. Even though I was crying like a baby...lol. Over losing my company that is. Sergeant, I'm truly sorry. ~Alexander McKinny
