It was not "The Tree of Knowledge." It was, in fact, "The Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil." God warned them that the tree had moral consequences.

Adam innocently partook in taxonomy before partaking in the tree, showing his creative and intellectual abilities to already be intact.

It is the moral dimension to our intellect that is in question here, not the intellect itself. God warned them against becoming evil. And ever since we have, we've been running from God, or struggling to understand Him, as this young man embodies.

As a researcher myself, I'm flabbergasted at atheists trying to make science seem as opposing force to religion, and belief as opposing to rationality. Literal logical fallacies of false opposition. Vanity and pride are behind most of the cases of people wanting science to be "correct" and religion "incorrect", when the two are not even in the same category, different philosophical categories altogether.
