Every driver in the world who wants to get a license should have to take courses like this.

I got in a skid once going through a wet roundabout with uneven surface at high speed at night. I did play racing simulators on my computer before like Project Cars or Live For Speed so when that happened I just instinctively knew what to do with the steering wheel and got control of the car seconds later. I still did go from edge to edge of the road left and right but did not crash into anything. People do like to speed up on the road as about a month later I saw a car with wheels up on the road.

This is great advice. Ended up in a fishtail today because someone in a large SUV tried to merge into the side of me on the motorway. I took evasive action but there was loose gravel on the road surface and the back wheels broke loose (RWD sports car). Followed the procedure, eyes on the direction I wanted to go, countersteered but let off the throttle a little to let the rear wheels grip. Overcompensated on the first counter steer which is why I ended up fishtailing. Fortunately I got it together on the second and the traction control got the rear wheels back in grip. Was bloody scary doing that at 70mph. Just glad I was in a fairly light car with very good steering authority and ESM.

I have taken the equivalent of this course twice. Unfortunately when I really needed the skills, three days ago, I couldn’t recall. In a perfect world we would do this regularly! But thank you for this!

Should have let the camera point to the front while letting us still see what you're doing with the wheel...

2:05 - Glad he mentioned the throttle. That really works wonders in a FWD

Similar to Ronald Coleman the DoorDash driver in Hawaii who made 6 figures in a year, I also put in a lot of hours driving in the big city trying to rebuild my financial life. Frustration dealing with selfish drivers on the road makes you rely on good advice like this video demonstrates so well. This should also be mandatory for all gig drivers in America as well.

beamNG taught me to not use the brakes or throttle, just use the wheel to correct

I went on a skid when i was approaching a 75 deg right bend on a slope during a rainy weather, the car veered to the right side but i quickly recovered by slightly steering the wheel back to the left (about 10 o'clock) and the car stabalize. I didnt use this method because my traction control was on, I just did the first two step and it worked. Thankfully there was no accident and i went on my way.

I jst recovered from a really bad fishtail on the highway in the rain, I instinctually did everything right to pull out of it, but I never touch the pedals if that happens, I never thought of giving it some throttle, good to know. . . I literally thought I was going to spin out or flip and crash, I was surrounded by traffic but managed to keep it within one-and-a-half Lanes until I got it straightened out and the people behind me gave me room, my heart's still pounding LOL

I dont like how you didn't go over protocols for rear wheel drive. accelerating in a RWD while skiding would be a disaster.

This happened to me today andits the second time! It was when i was travelling at a bend or raining. Both times wete petrifying because the first i was close to hitting the car on my right and the second time i was about to joing a 60 road i was thanking Gof later that there was no car infront or behind me. I didnt realise i did it but i definitely adjusted the stering into the right direction. For my it felt like two wheels went in different directions. Absolutely scary

I got skid this morning. I was driving .then in front of me theres a vehicle that parked on the road ..in a distance a saw a pickup truck on a opposite lane that going to overtake too..but on my calculations based on my speed and distance..i decided to overtake. But when im turning my car back to the left side of the road..i felt it that is like drifting. So i tried full breaking. But it still moving forward like drifting but slowly. So i tried to turn to my right to control my car. Good thing that the driver on the opposite lane tried to avoid me by turning to his right side..that was my first time that happened to me.. time to buy 2 new front wheels.

Prayers out to what happened today in Fort worth, I truly feel sorry, but I strongly believe that the drivers education in America is to lax, and because of this the average driver doesn't know these evasive maneuvers.

Often one has NO CHANCE even if the car has ABS. Take what happened decades ago to a colleague. He was driving from Penrith to Ullswater. The road had a sharp right hand bend but the cornering forces of tens of thousands of vehicles had worn a hollow in the tarmac. This was OK in summer when all that collected in the hollow was water but in winter the rainwater could turn to ice. Result, just when grip was needed to turn the corner there was a sheet of ice so the car went straight on and flew through the air into a wood. It hit a large tree so hard that the floor of the car bent to resemble a roller coaster. The rear axle carried on for well over a foot and the prop-shaft became Z shaped. I would surmise that NO ONE could have got around that corner without ABS (not invented then!) and studded tyres (illegal in 99% of the UK but allegedly icy spots in the far north have bye-laws which allow them)

Similar can happen on country lanes which are seldom resurfaced, e.g. once in twenty or thirty years. If one studies the skiddy corner carefully it may be found that the aggregate has become polished and is in the form of little rounded domes. Grip on such a surface is very poor in the rain especially when muddy. Needless to say there will negligible polishing on the straight which as a result will be OK to drive on.

Sudden changes in the road surface can occur in milliseconds and this is far too quick for 99% of humans.

I was going down the highway and suddenly my car started screeching and skidding severely! Spun in a 360 bounced off a concrete barrier into a pickup and stoped blocking 2 lanes with tractor-trailers breading down. got it off ok but turned out the rear tie rod broke. What to do in this situation? there was no indication anything was wrong until the second it happend. Could I have compounded the problem by overcorrecting?? It was fishtailing quite a bit.

I just got into a skid moment to go it must have been subconscious or Instinct but I turned the car and the direction that I wanted to go because I lost control doing a right turn and I must have made the left turn at the right time because I immediately regained control of the car while it was skidding
