The whole point of Gorillaz as a project was to allow Damon Albarn, to collaborate with any artist he wanted to regardless of genre and just make music. It lets him expose his favorite performers to whole new audiences and let's them experiment outside their regular lanes. It's genius.

The order of music videos from their "Plastic Beach" album goes like this: "Stylo" --- "Melancholy Hill" --- "Rhinestone Eyes" --- "Broken" and then 2 non album tracks that are connected "Doncamatic" and "Do Ya Thing" which features Andre 3000. The final music video related to Plastic Beach just came out last year "The Lost Chord" featuring Leee John. All of these tracks should be checked out.

You kind of nailed it. Gorillaz was created by 2 people: Damon Albarn (from the band Blur) & Jamie Hewlett (comic artist best known for Tank Girl). There's a base group of musicians who also contribute to vocals, but other well known artists (from a variety of genres) are rotated in & out--that's why all the songs sound a little different. They call themselves a 'virtual band'.

What you can appreciate with Gorillaz is Damon and Jamie Hewlett (make sure not to forget him as he is the co-founder of the project) is their willingness to genre-break, and I feel with that, there is something is there for everyone to like.

Also, I've seen them live twice, one in an outdoor venue and one in an indoor venue, and the production values of both shows were unreal. Damon is a born showman. I don't know how he didn't pass out after his performance, and he manage to come back out to an encore.
