This is so encouraging. I’m not going for dental school but I am going for medical school. I’m a junior in college and I felt it was too late for me. But for some reason I was sad not doing it so this helps a lot and shows that it’s never too late.

But one question. During your predental did you work still as a dental assistant? If so how many days did you work ?

Your story is so similar to mine! I was terrified of science courses. After years of figuring out what other non-sciency major I wanted to do, I went back and took my science courses one at a time since I was working full time and I got an A in anatomy and microbiology and a B in Physio. It was not easy but it definitely can be done!

Hi Kenia! Thank you for your video. My dentist also asked me about being a dentist but I just thought I wouldn't be able to take all those prereqs after having a bachelor's degree in a non-related field + I don't think I am smart enough haha. I did well as an undergrad but I did really bad on SAT (which should be much much easier than DAT) in high school so I am really scared about committing to a post-bacc program as I might be wasting time and money (if I did not get into dental schools). I still haven't made my decision yet...

I'm not a pre-dental major. I am a health science major looking into going to Nursing school. At my community college I was the only minority taking my pre-req course during the summer. I won't ever take another science course in the summer again. I was taking A&P last year in the fall 2022. My grandmother passed away unexpectedly Sept 2022. It was hard. I had to withdraw from my A&P class. I will be taking it again fall 2023. I always thought I wasn't smart enough to be a nurse. I can't afford to give up. I don't see myself doing anything else. That's great that you want to be a dentist. I don't see a lot of nurses that looks like me. And I am black. I see some black nurses on YouTube and that gives me hope. @Keniastudies
