A convicted felon attacked a judge in court moments after pleading with her not to send him to jail for battery because he’s 'not committing crimes’ any more. Deobra Redden leaped over the judge’s bench and attacked Judge Mary Kay Holthus in Las Vegas, speaking a brawl which fortunately left the judge with only light injuries. Redden, 30, was taken back to jail after the attack and is now facing new charges. They include battery on a protected person, which can result in a four year jail term. Redden was being sentenced to attempted battery at the time of the attack, and has previously served time in jail for domestic battery, court records show.

He was a changed person for 30 seconds. How remarkable

As soon as he realised she wasn’t buying his garbage he went ballistic. Probably did the same thing to his partners which explains all the DV convictions.

"Based on my criminal history, I shouldn't be sent to prison for a SECOND time"... The audacity 🤣

Criminal: "I'm in a better place mentally, I'm not committing crimes now"
Also Criminal: Immediately commits assault when he doesn't get his way.

The fact he got that far is insane. He is a very athletic guy and no one was standing between them

If he acts this way in court can you imagine how many people he hurt? He definitely deserves to be locked up.

This guy tackles better than most defensive linemen in the NFL. The distance he needed to cover with the leap was incredible.

The judge got that decision spot on. He is clearly a danger to the public and has no respect for authority or women. They do need to review their security policy though.

"I'm not committing crimes NOW, (but I will be in about 10 seconds)"

Seems the judge was correct to impose a jail setence, she clearly saw through that nonsense he was spouting. I thought she was being quite polite to him before it all, yet he still got that triggered.

Imagine if she was just getting ready to say " however I do believe you deserve one last chance "

It’s amazing how a 6 month sentence can easy turn in a 20 year sentence

You have to ask, with that criminal history why was he out of prison? We're way too soft of real, violent crime.

She said that he had a prior conviction for an assault on a 'protected' person, so why weren't they ready for this?!?! She's a 'protected' person. Wtf?! Most regular citizens don't stand a chance against these POS!

Judge: “I’m gonna throw the book at you”
Man: “I’m gonna throw my body at you”

He needs to be locked away for a long time to protect the public. He has shown to be a lifelong criminal and even right here his lies and mistruths and then attacking the judge show he cannot be trusted. He has done this to himself and now the system must do to him what is needed to keep the public safe.
