removing the outer skin will allow it to germinate quicker as well ;the skin acts like a water seal

My seed has finally sprouted! After a long time. I had it on top of the fridge October 13th but wasn't watering it regularly. This month I started watering it and moved it away from the fridge to the windowsill because though it was warm up there, it wasn't sunny. I'm guessing now we can leave it open to the air and just treat like a normal potted plant without the plastic?

The seed i have is almost a month old. Should I still cut the tip?

I'm seeing so many different ways of growing it, I have one that after 2 months it finally has a 1 1/2 inch stem with minute buds growing at the top, I also have about 5 more pits that are smaller so I'm hoping that they'll germinate quicker. But for almost 2 weeks I suspended the first pit in water, then put it in soil, but I'm going to try your method with one and see how fast that takes root- I'll let you know how it goes! :)
