One day my wife called me to come look at a fox squirrel by our patio with a baby in its mouth, running around in a panic. I stepped outside to discover a turkey buzzard circling above and two more babies laying on the ground. I got a bucket and placed it laying on the ground and put leaves in it along with the other two babies to hide them from the buzzard and went back inside the house to watch from the door. The mother picked up each of the babies and took them to another tree nest. When she knew they were safe she came right up to the outside of the door and put her paw on the door, looked me right in the eyes and made kind of a barking sound as if to say thank you. I am amazed at Gods creations all the time.

I can tell you all this, sometimes animals are smarter than some humans I know. They are also thankful for care given to them as seen in this video.

I'm in my 30's and I've cared for a lot of injured animals during my life. Deer, boars, cats, crows, squirrels, all kinds of local wildlife you could think of. Despite the costs, I've never regreted doing so, except for one time that will probably haunt me for the rest of my life.

Six years ago, an injured pigeon walked over to me while I was outside cutting bushes. When I saw him, I was sure that he had just escaped an attack from a buzzard, so I took him in. My wife and me helped him back on his feet (or wings) again and after four months we finally released him back into the wild. The next morning, he walked over to me again. Again injured as hell by what it seemed to be the same fucking buzzard who mangled him the first time. I had no choice but to take him in and start all over again.

As I said, that was six years ago. Now that fucker has his own 30m² room right next to my workshop in our garage, since he doesn't want to leave anymore. I've built a whole bird amusement park into this room just for him, he gets the most expensive food there is for a pigeon and despite all that, that ungrateful little shit is the most aggressive living being I've ever seen. He attacks humans, dogs, cats, hawks, even cows for no reason at all. When he was bored, he visited my neighbour just to kill two of his quails and shit all over his new BMW. After that, I brought him to a local pigeon keeper, but the very next day he brought him back again and asked us what was wrong with this thing.

He hates being touched, he hates it when no matter what lifeform dares to enter his lair (my workshop and garage are part of it now by the way, since 30m² weren't enough for a fucking pigeon already) and he hates our mailman in particular. In fact, our mailman always starts his tour at our house, cause that damn bird won't come out to chase him that early in the morning. For some time, our neighbours begged us to take that feathered demon to a vet and put him down, but man, if we started to kill living beings just for behaving like arseholes, we'd run out of poison before the next weekend, so we refused.

Now things have gotten a tiny bit better, since Mr. Shithead has grown so lazy that he spends his days down in my basement sleeping, looking into his mirror, eating cereal and shitting all over the place rather than going outside to harass locals and their pets. I swear to all that is holy, that thing behaves like an unemployed alcoholic 24/7. Our only hope is to somehow endure the 15 years of his life expectancy and move on, but as I said, I've cared for a lot of injured animals during my life and most of them are way past that point now, so chances are that this airborne plague will shit on my casket one day. That damned pigeon, seriously.

Seeing those poor koalas contending w/the devastating Australian wildfires is heartbreaking beyond belief! God bless all of the rescuers that helped them and the other animals who suffered through them.

Yes, this is the way people have dominion over animals, to help them when necessary. Not to kill. So wonderful to see the connection, real hearts caring.

Of course they were Thanked! Animals have more feelings and are more grateful then a lot of human beings.

We all need help from time to time and wild animals are no different. Of course they are grateful, it's only natural - we all need each other.

I have a friend who's dad used to be a wild animal hunter.
But then he stopped when he saw a deer asking for help while it got stuck on a tree branch that fell onto them.
Now that deer always comes to their house and greet them every morning, also for some foods.
