You NEED to Do These Things in Spring Yr. 1!

here are a few additions to my spring guide to accommodate for 1.6 new features!!

Also! In the riverlands farm there’s already a fish smoker from the beginning of the game, so you can save up on that gold

Fish smoker is a reason why I started my second run on Riverland farm. You get one before you get the recipe for crafting it, and it's pretty painful to collect the resources unless you make 3 fish ponds and add flounder, midnight carp and fire eel, which they give guaranteed jellies that you need to craft a fish smoker.

As a switch player I’ve come back to Stardew after about four months and I find out the update is still not out

I lucked out and got Monster Compendium and a couple skill books before the Book Smeller even showed up on my first 1.6 run. ‘Twas nice.

The books are good for later in the game, when mastries are on your mind, but not for your first spring

The book seller DOES have some use. If you get a butt ton of, say, the Woody's Secret books by going nuts on chopping wood, he trades those for quite a bit of hardwood. And also, if you get some of the fishing books, he can trade those for either three cave jelly (thus furthering the smoker goals), or something else.
