Ted Witzig Jr., PhD, discusses exposure and response prevention (ERP) and why it is used to treat those who suffer from scrupulosity. ERP involves exposing oneself to triggers repeatedly. This treatment helps alleviate the anxiety and fear associated with triggers. ERP helps a sufferer develop coping skills and decreases the symptoms associated scrupulosity.

May God bless you all and guide you all into His amazing love and grace for us. I definitely took some passages out of context and psyched myself out. I also felt the compulsion to avoid church, but didn’t because I don’t want to fall away. I am getting back comfortable at church. When the pastor comes up to read the scripture I get a little anxious, but I sit through it. The intrusive thoughts are hard because they make you question if you really have ocd or if it’s just a hard heart. I read the scriptures about hardened hearts and reprobate minds and my ocd took the ball and ran with it. I am currently focused on a scripture that reminds me that nothing, not even my ocd, can separate me from Gods love. Romans 8:38-39.

What do you do if you obsess about if you told a lie in a conversation? The compulsion is to confess.

They scream about sin. I am like Jesus Christ died for all my sin.
He shed his blood and it covered my sin. He was buried and rose again.

Yes....falling into the hands of a living God

I never knew you

I get these thoughts
...panic and retrust Christ again.

Pastors say this is from sin.
They scream about sin and I almost pass out.

If Jesus didn't pay for all my sin .... Then He didn't pay for any.

All I do is trust Jesus as my saviour and retrust The shed blood of Jesus...
