Strong legs means being able to get up off the floor. My mom fell and couldn’t get up. She pushed her alert button which comes to me first. I drive to her house 15 minutes away to help her up.
I now have her doing simple exercises to strengthen her legs and her upper body. But, she’s stubborn!!

I once rented a room from an elderly couple. She had suffered a stroke and couldnt speak, but he was in his 90s, walked everyday, and even still went skiing on weekends, to stay strong to take care of her. He had rosey cheeks and such a positive, smart mind, so cheerful. Truly admirable, I will never forget his example.

In all my years of watching many of the workout gurus, not one of them discussed the legs and that they are the gateway to health. The main heart vein runs up along one of them and the kind of movements she is showing are very, very good. So glad she is teaching the best movements around.

I’m 63. She’s absolutely right. My legs are not what they used to be. Once the legs go, it’s hard to do many things we take for granted in our youth.

Absolutely! Lack of exercise doesn't just result in muscle atrophy, but also a reduction in bone density. Suddenly you are more prone to falls..and falls that break now weaker bones.

She is so right. I call my legs my wheels. Like a car you need wheels for your car to move, no wheels, no go. Now that i am 60, my legs are strong and healthy with no pain and good flexibility and balance. Take care of your legs.

I'd add, when you mention balance and strength, that it will help prevent falling in old age, which is the number one thing that keeps seniors from living & enjoying life. Falls lead to premature death!
