Being someone who was in LA rap scene for Kendricks rise. I'd have to agree with Danny brown. Cole didn't really find his flow until his 3rd album. We knew he could rap but not only his production but his flow sounded like he only listened to himself. Kdot been had a polished style even the way he makes albums. Polished.

J Cole literally was producing and writing most of his music his entire career. Even gave Kendrick some beats. They are just 2 different type of artists but both great mc’s.

He’s right. We watched Cole go from not so good to great. His old mixtapes were fire obviously but his first few albums didn’t really connect with the masses until 2014 Forest Hills Drive. Whereas people were calling Kendrick the voice of the generation on first album already.
