Hood Problems! Has your car hood ever been stuck closed? Learn some of the reasons why this happens. It can be very frustrating but if you know how the hood latch system works on your car it may be easier to diagnose the problem. Reasons this can happen-
- hood release cable snaps or breaks
- hood release handle breaks off
- hood spring loses its spring tension

Really good and easy to understand video, for problem on hood closed shut.
Mine is stuck closed now. I wish you would have done a video on how to get
that latch open ? Good explanation on how the latch works tho, which is a good
starting point. I have seen videos where guys stick a long screw driver in the thru
the front grill. Maybe I can try that, but not to sure where to put it ?? Like your
presentation style and clear videos.

Very good job! My major problem in researching this has been that there are too many parts with similar or even identical names that makes asking a specific question about a specific part very hard: too many latches, springs, and rods without very specific names to make clear which latch or spring or catch is being referred too. Without you pointing out the exact part you are referring to, this would be impossible to understand or followup with additional questions.

This video helped me to understand how to fix my hood latch. Latch was not unlocking and cable was good. Knowing about the secondary latch/locked and how it worked allowed me to figure out just what was wrong with my Prius Prime latch lock and how to fix it

OK good.but you didn't show us how to open the bonnet with a stuck or broken cable!!

Any ideas if I'm using a screwdriver to manually trigger the latch, but the hood still won't open?

There is two smaller springs on that latch your missing the bottom one that’s why it’s not shutting or opening. The bottom one holds the tension on the first latch so it doesn’t lose tension
