Wireless coverage is IMPORTANT! No doubt over the course of the year you have seen the word ‘mesh’ being thrown around over and over again. For many of us, this kind of technology has existed for a while in large hotels, conference centres and pretty much anywhere where you need ample wireless coverage across hundreds or thousands of square metres. WHere it is for surveillance, clients, customers or just for the home, choose the right mesh network will be a difficult choice (given that there are literally hundreds of models released this year alone). Luckily I have gone through the best and the worst and below have compiled a guide to the best Mesh Routers of the year. Each of the top 5 mesh routers below was selected for there:

Thank you for this explanation. No one else seem to review the software side of the routers.

I replaced a DWR-953-A498 with this and using the same 4g antenna (currently in the attic) my pig has dropped from 80ms to 40ms in games and not getting any drop outs and the download speed has doubled from 10-15mbps to 30 plus mbps. I can't wait to get the antenna fitted outside..

Love the built in speed test really nice function.

Using the new beta firmware and manually selecting the wifi band took my download speeds from 10-15mbs (with occasional lock ons to 4g+ at 95mb) to 75mb constant. Very happy with this router

Thanks for your great review. Is the Archer MR500 exactly the same modem? The specs look identical but is much cheaper to buy. Thanks Chris

Great info, I've got this working great. Thinking about getting a 2nd then use a tplink load balancer for fail over. I only wish it has a USB port for file serving

When will TP-Link make a 5G version? May aswell as skip this device as it all depends on your connection to the mast. The best I've got out of O2 was 100 Mbps and the theoretical max is 300Mbps, same as what this router is capable of receiving.

Just a correction

The Onemesh isn't an open option to connect to existing mesh devices like the Deco series or other brands. As of now a Onemesh compatible router + a Onemesh extender works in tandem to form a mesh network on the cheap. So u could pick up a RE300 (compatible onemesh device) and build a mesh network based of it.

The list of compatible routers isn't extensive though, which is quite surprising since high end ones like the Archer C5400 or C4000 isn't included but budget ones like A7/C7 are (probably cuz it's one of the most popular routers on Amazon) but all shouldn't be bad tho, hopefully tp link expands this selection as it's (as i know) software only and a firmware upgrade can add that functionality. Fingers crossed

Hi, I have watched your reviews on the TP link router and software review. I live in the Highlands & we suffer with power outages and the only broadband we get is 4g (EE) and its good. Have you done any testing in this router with power failures mainly its ability to boot back up and connect flawlessly to the 4g network. I'm currently using a Teltonika router, which is great, but sometimes it fails to reconnect to the 4g after a power outage. I have to then go into the device and reset it. This has just happened to me again but I'm 700 miles away unable to access it. Ive also followed you reviews on the synology NAS, of which ive purchased, is there a way of swiching it back on, eg LAN wake up? Many thanks and great informative reviews.

Hi, great video, thanks for going over the software options. I have this router for our caravan, unfortunately it seems a bit hit and miss regarding signal using a Sky Mobile SIM (O2) I have Poynying antenna. Is there a setting that I have to change to say that I am using an external antenna?

Just what I was looking for! Can you please also consider a video for the failover configuration?

The example uses a three SIM. My three SIM is on cgnat and therefore remote access our port forwarding doesn't work. Any ideas how to get around this?

Looks good. Now what I'd like to know is can this be used with a Hosted VoIP phone? They don't usually work due to double NAT as the SIM has Carrier NAT. So far the only carrier that has worked for me was Vodafone.

I do have this MR600. At the first time using it, it keeps on disconnecting my pc(without a wifi card). I’m using tp link archer t4u for my pc. Even when i’m connecting it to my iphone, it somehow dc too. But when i tried to use it on my android tv, it can play spotify, youtube and netflix without any problems. Read through a tplink forum regarding the dc problem, some saya that the router need to undergo firmware update. I havent get the chance to update it but somehow the dc problem has stopped. And when i play gtao or r6, it is very annoying as my ping is spiking and i left the lobby as for gtao. I’m not sure what the problem is with this router. I hope someone from tplink can help me

Hello. I have a few questions about the MR600 router and I was hoping you can help:

1. If I use a 4g sim on it, is there a chance I can get 4g+ speeds in our area? The thing is we already have a Huawei B311 4g router but the speeds are a bit slow (we live in a rural area). But my phone catches 4g+ speeds when I'm outside the house. So I was hoping to get one of these to hopefully speed up the 4g internet here at home.

2. Is there a chance this router can be carrier locked? It's because I am planning to buy it from another country and I am afraid I cannot use it on mine.

Thanks in advance.

Currently I have this router as a spare. Can this router be used as a WiFi extender. Tried all settings but in vain
