Actually you don't need to add new layer, just use alpha lock right on your base layer

you can just alphalock the layer with the color, no need to make a layer for clipping

Press the button where the file is then there’s a button called Alpha lock 💀

Actually you don't need to use alpha lock if you already use clipping, alpha lock can be used on that layer too.
