I helped cut the cord for my senior aged parents a few years ago and went with Roku. As many will attest - simplicity.

I purchased Roku's first player way back in 2007. Have upgraded Roku boxes several times over the years. I like them for ease of use. Great little remote. I have no plans to switch to another box.

Have only cut the cord within the last year. First with a Roku 4K+ streamer and then bought a 65" google tv about 3 mos ago. Strongly thinking about resetting the TV and installing the Roku ultra. Simplicity and less bloat and ads is the reason.

I use the Roku Voice Remote Pro on all my Roku devices. It allows me to plug in earphones so I can listen without disturbing anyone else. Only problem is they have to be charged, so I charge them in the day and use the earphones at night. Love it.

Roku Ads were not covered. How do you turn off Roku Ads and tracking spyware?

Roku needs to have folders to sort the apps, its a pain scrolling through. Or have a recently used section.
Hate how roku deletes apps with no notification so that number at the top changes but you don't know what disappeared. They don't even have a blog or anything to find out about deleted apps

Question for Luke? Love your shows!
Is there anywhere available to get major political news channels (CNN, MSNBC, FOX) outside of a paid subscription? If not, what is the least expensive service that provides these channels? Thank you.🙂

Question for Luke: Have you ever reviewed the WebOS on a TV? I found my purchase of an LG WebOS too complicated and not as effective as the Roku TV I purchased after I returned the LG WebOS TV.

I'm confused as you are talking about Roku TV, but I see the name of the corporate naming rights john of the theater in hollywood. So, who made the tv you are using for this video?
I'm guessing that regardless of who made the tv, that the tv is a smart tv and it will need an internet connection. So, in that case, does this tv flood the screen with ads while you are actually watching content or if you pause content? What is the relationship between roku and the john? As far as I know, they are separate companies, so did the tv company build in the roku app to its tv?
And lastly, what about the non-negotiable Terms of Service that roku recently forced down folks throats? Did you have to accept that TOS in order to be able to use this tv? I am looking for a new tv after moving, so I don't want to get stuck with ads while I watch something that's not supposed to have ads or while I am trying to find stuff (I did see that other than the static ad on the right side of the roku home page, there weren't any ads; that's what I remember from my roku set-top box I have).
To be clear, I not a fan of naming rights, hence my use of the term I wrote. I avoid as best I can buying products or services from such companies.
Thanks.

Will there be a Apple TV video? I mean, the Apple TV home screen is just as simple plus no ads!

Memory limitations often effects the number of apps you can have loaded until streaming is effected. So memory expansion is a concern.

So what's better, Roku or Firestick?

He missed one big critical detail with respect to any wall mounted ROKU TV. The USB and HDMI ports are inaccessible hidden on the back of the TV, so it's impossible to locate them by brail to plug anything in once the TV is mounted, so unless you want to pay for the Geek Squad to send somebody out to plug in a USB with your family's latest vacation photos, the USB is totally useless and might as well not even be there, because you will never, ever, manage to feel up there with no sight, locate the port and properly plug anything in. Unless you have a mount with a big swing arm you are going to have to dismount the TV to plug in any USBs or HDMI cables once it is already up on the wall. Probably a lot better to just get a ROKU box if you like to use USBs to play MP3s, MP4s, or to look at home video or pictures. That or be sure to have another TV in the house you can use for such purposes. Just a totally callous disregard for consumer convenience on ROKU's part.

After what Roku has done I will never buy one of their products again. That is next level anti-consumer behavior. And the bold face lie that the new EULA and the account hacks are completely unrelated.
