Son of a gun! I woke up to this exact problem (black screen of death) this morning. Also could not get it resolved and watched your previous video on the topic, which led me to this one.

I had tried all the same things, including the up/down/power sequence. At your suggestion, however, I tried it a few times and made sure to hold the power button for a long time (30+ seconds). After about two or three tries, it powered up.

Worked the first time. Thought it was completely dead. Multiple cables, power adapters, and outlets were attempted without luck. Attempted this method and it worked (held the power button for 20 seconds in my case)

Just did this with my wife’s phone. Didn’t work the first time but did work the second time. I held the power button for approximately 10 seconds before I saw the Apple logo on the screen. Video was a huge help.
