I concur with your last statement. Its important to respect the creatures we want to photograph. Ultimately, if we can't do things with disturbing the natural habitat, and heaven forbid that there are photographers who would put insects in fridges just so they can take photos, its immoral

It’s a strong message at the end to respect the nature even the smallest things. Nowadays, many people crossed the line just to get what they wanted.

Neil I have never given micro photography a thought but after your video it looks like something I could do at 82 years old thanks for a interesting introduction.

I've been doing macro photography for a short while now, and thought this was by far the best beginner video I've ever seen

As a biologist and photographer, I'm grateful you discussed about the ethics of wildlife photography. Keep up with the great work.

Thank you for a great video, especially in regards to your final segment on ethics. It drives me nuts when people have animals in studios, move them around for a picture, or just show them general disrespect. It sometimes feels like people just don’t care. It’s refreshing to see other people who want to share the wonders of small creatures while treating them as real individuals that matter and have emotions.

I'm only 3 minutes into the video and I have to say... you are an absolute professional. I love how you just cut to the chase instead of having long introductions or demands to like and subscribe to your videos.

Love this video, especially your final points. As a former active member of scouting, I try to always apply the "Leave no trace" rule when I am out taking pictures. Great advice!

I'm giving a like just for that final words on ethics. It exasperates me too when macro photographers cut grass or leaves with scissors just to take a picture.

One of the best YouTube videos on any subject I have encountered. Pity I didn't see this when it was created over 6 years ago.

Wow, it may be 4 years old but this has to be one of the most informative and interesting videos I have watched. You are knowledgable, engaging and manage to keep things simple and understandable. I have subscribed to your channel and hope to enjoy many more similar videos.

Your explanation and ruler demonstration of ‘minimum focus distance’ was the most easiest and direct way I’ve seen it shown in a video.

Such a helpful video! I also appreciate your comments on ethics. As a biologist, I care deeply about the natural world and I'm glad you are bringing this info to photographers who may not have the biological background!
