Starship Flight 5 TIMELINE leaked out! What happens with Mechazilla's 1st catching...
“We would like to catch the booster in the giant Mechazilla arms, which sounds insane because this is the largest flying object ever made."
Well, this incredibly insane will be one of the most impressive aspects of SpaceX's Starship performance in the spectacular Flight 5. And it is ready to take place this Sunday.
So, how will the Starship Flight 5 launch unfold? What will happen with Mechazilla’s first attempt to catch the booster?
Let’s find out in today’s episode of Alpha Tech:
Starship Flight 5 TIMELINE leaked out! What happens with Mechazilla's 1st catching...
Before we dive into the main content, I’d like to extend a prayer to our friends in Florida who have just faced one of the world’s largest record-breaking hurricanes. May Mother Nature be kind to all, so Florida can quickly recover from the damage and return to normal life.
Now, back to the main topic of today’s video!
With just a few days left until SpaceX's seemingly dreamlike flight takes place, this is the perfect time for us to explore the detailed timeline corresponding to each stage of the massive spacecraft's launch, especially what will happen during Mechazilla’s catch process.

The latest closure notice from County Judge Eddie Trevino, Jr., reads that the entrance to Boca Chica Beach and State Highway 4 will be closed "for flight activity" and "SpaceX flight testing activities on October 13, 2024." These closures are another pre-flight development that indicates a launch is imminent, and they signal that SpaceX is confident that the FAA will provide it with a launch license for the Sunday launch on time.
The Starship Flight 5 commences at 7 am and concludes by 12 am. While the actual duration may vary, this timeframe provides ample flexibility for SpaceX and other systems involved.
During this period, a multitude of processes will unfold, categorized into two distinct phases: pre-flight and in-flight. Let's begin by examining the pre-flight procedures.
Approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes prior to liftoff, SpaceX's Flight Director will confirm the commencement of propellant loading. This critical step is estimated to last between 20 to 30 minutes.

Giving you a more detailed look at Flight 5...

Why don't they hover Starship over the water for as long as it has fuel left to see how well they can control its stability in the hover. ?

While the booster catch may take center stage. Hopefully Starships new reentry improvements, will make it an exciting uneventful flight and splashdown.

Then we should see Space X talking about catching Starship. Wonder what exterior modifications will need to be added, since the heat tiles cover half of starship.

The breakdown of the pre-flight preparations and booster recovery process is spot on. It's fascinating to see how precision in these early stages could set the tone for SpaceX's success.

At what time is liftoff scheduled for CST? 0700am?

Largest HEAVIER THAN AIR aircraft. The Hindenburg was larger than starship.

In retrospect they may be sorry they didnt put a tower on a boat and catch it there first, , , ,

If Starship soft lands in the ocean, why won't they tow it back to Starbase?

I was going to say SpaceX should partially fuel the Starship and make a short flight to test the catch. Then I realized that I'm stupid therefore shouldn't work for SpaceX though I would love to (maybe cleaning the toilets?).

When Elon uses words like Crazy or Insane,
I translate into: "Fun!"

This will be a cool flight, disirreguardless of outcome, things will be learned.

Elon is like a Magician:
"For my next magic trick, we catch a hot booster in mid air, with only two fingers!"

Personally, dont care about that, as much as the flight after, hopefully Raptor 3's, and the new triangulated hot staging ring, which will look way cool, and be way better than the current jail bars model.
And maybe even longer boosters and ship. Also after this flight coming up, more will be known about the tiles.

I was thinking last night about the tunneling tech, and my suggestion of doing triangle and hex pattern levels, with vertical shafts at juncture points to connect levels, and to have surface illumination under green houses. Would make for a very aesthetic patterned underground city.
And if you used robotic equipment similar to Skid Steer tractors, and carbide cutting equipment, you could carve at angles from the tunnels for living and commercial spaces. Cutting out blocks of stone as you went, and transporting to the surface for roads and greenhouse retainer walls.

You could use a parabolic arches motif in your carve outs, broad parabolic ceilings in open spaces And shorter taller parabolic ceilings in passages and halls, and get a nice
"Under Mountain" effect, like architecture out of Tolkien.
Might be fun to go with that kind of motif, perhaps strap iron hinges and fittings, and massive doors that you went as far as wood facing them.
Such touches would make living underground more Homey and keep people happier.

Have some class, design unity, like anchient cities, and not modernesque Urban Trash Heap architecture.

On the surface a pattern of hexagonal green houses, say about a hectare each, and then at regular intervals much larger and higher free span hex domes in the pattern, for open spaces, mechanized farming, livestock, and growing forests.

Likely visited mostly at night when radiation would be lowest, so would need artificial Fairy lights.
Making for pretty evening celebrations out of the underground. with people tending gardens and parks, or riding the Horses and Camels...

Why would we want large animals on Mars?
Because it will be our jumping off point for the Stars, and it would be lonely forever out there, without all our friends... Have the genetics to fill a million Arks.

And for our own sanity, wildlife parks, Fishing, forests of exquisite trees... And so the Children would know the skills like riding ponies and swimming in lakes.

And if enough of Mar's surface was greenhoused over, it would warm up, and thaw out, and the plants fed CO2 and turn it into oxygen.

Better, using natural processes as much as possible, than toxic living thru excess chemistry.

The key to success of Mars Colony, will be creating something nicer, with better lives, so people want to go there. We shouldnt think in terms of 1950's pulp Sci-Fi cover art Colonies..
Nobody would actually enjoy living like that...

Lets plan ahead and do wholesome things, maybe even practice here on earth building an example, to learn what it takes, and to leave an example for people on Earth to experience before their outward bound decision.
