Starship Flight 5 License FAA Gives Important Updates, Falcon 9 Grounded What Went Wrong?

🔴 Get ready for the latest updates from Starbase as SpaceX races toward Starship's fifth integrated flight test! This episode covers the crucial repairs and upgrades to the launch tower, designed to perfect the upcoming booster catch. We'll also look at the progress on Pad-2 flame trench construction, the fully stacked Starship 33, and the ongoing tile replacement for Ship-31.

SpaceX's Falcon 9 booster failed to land successfully after a Starlink mission, erupting into flames upon contact with the drone ship and ultimately exploding. The FAA has grounded Falcon 9 pending an investigation into the cause. Additionally, NASA has opted to return astronauts Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams aboard SpaceX's Crew Dragon instead of Boeing's Starliner due to ongoing thruster issues. The uncrewed Starliner will now return to Earth in early September for further assessment. 🚀🌕

Landing an unmanned booster on an unmanned drone ship in the middle of the ocean really warrants an investigation due to reasons of public safety. BS

Perahsp the FAA should ground all other rockets when they don't make the perfect landing of their boosters.

Too bad the FAA wasn’t this concerned with Boeings malfunctioning space junk.

You also have to take into consideration that it was its 23'rd launch. That is unprecedented..People ust have to let it go. What the difference when 70% of the worlds boosters get dumped, and wasted into the ocean. At least X can land its booster. Everyone (especially the FAA), have to just let it go with the thousands of boosters sitting at the bottom of whatever ocean/sea. X is the leader, and will always be.
Thanks for the episode.

FAA grounding both the Falcon 9 and Starship programs because one Falcon 9 landing issue that had no public safety or property issues other than SpaceX should just let SpaceX investigate and issue a report on root cause and steps being taken to improve the vehicle if this wasn't a one off issue. The FAA needs to get the needed personnel and updated processes in process to keep up with the advances that are being made in the commercialization space. This includes NASA needing to cancel the SLS efforts and stop listening to the lobbyists. BILL: you know what needs to be done to get NASA on the right track going forward. Yes, these projects have been spread over many subcontractors across many congressional districts. Just bite the bullet and do the right thing!

Does Boeing provide Kickbacks to NASA highter ups? Seems like NASA is bending over backwards to appease Boeing.

It's looking like someone in the FAA is getting kickbacks to slow Spacex's progress hmmmm

Another great video. I really like this voice.

I just can't stand synthetic narration.

I imagine the chopstick arms were designed with enough strength plus safet\y margin to not fail under the dynamic weight of the of the descending booster. The stiffening of the legs were most likely to raise the frequency
and decrease the amplitude of the bouncing motion of the legs so they stay close to the booster after contacting it.

FAA should of let them keep launching… and request full report on cause as soon as it’s ready.

This bs from FAA is driven by politics.

Perhaps the arms need a few gas-thrusters to help suppress oscillation when they close on the catch point.

Why don't they make the quick disconnect swing away like Apollo and Falcon 9

I had heard that Starliner couldn't autonomously return to Earth, but that doesn't seem to be the case?

Starliners troubles were long before June 5th! Didn't It had troubles when if failed to dock at the ISS and NASA decided to send a crewed mission to the ISS without another test launch and docking! Sure, Boeing has troubles but NASA put the lives of the astronauts needlessly at risk just to be supporting Boeing! Everyone know that the Starloner had troubles before the launch but NASA sent it anyway, apparently the only entity that didn't know that Srarliner was not up to the job! I really think that NASA is to blame, like signing off on something knowing it is faulty!

Can it catch a fully fueled starship in the event of an engine failure after liftoff?

Why did the FAA allow starcrap to fky if they knew it had problems? Where's the concern for public safety? They knew it was bad at launch, they launched without question ⁉️
