Question: Which do you think will launch first, new Glen or flight 6? Place your bets below! Which implies another important question. Do you think Blue Origin is too late for the party? Will it be able to compete with a fully operational Starship?

Whenever you can learn from a system failure, while completing the mission, thats the biggest win possible.

Someone needs to make or 3D print a working PEZ candy dispensor in the shape of a starship!

You can see in Everyday Astronaut video, around minute 19 00, that the chines begin to be ripped off about 6 seconds before engines start.
Apparently, damage only occurred due to aerodynamic forces.

I'm going to guess that SpaceX actually has three modes for a catch:
#1 "everything go" (try for what was seen on IFT-5).
#2 "worlds most expensive lawn dart" (no engine light even attempted, just aero into the swamp).
#3 "virtual catch" (sort of like CRS-16 did; if the margins are in the "maybe but not sure" range, simulate a landing far enough from everything to avoid damage, but close enough that it tells you something about if things could have worked).

Option #3 might even be the _default_ abort as long as the Raptors seem to be controllable because it would reduce impact speed and let you burn off fuel before dropping in the dirt thus producing less "ecological impact" (assuming the hover is done high enough).

I'm pretty sure the turbine spin up worked correctly, I believe they said that the issue was with the monitor parameters on that engine start sequence. They don't have a lot of data on engine starts in that condition so they made educated guesses for the limits on them. Seems like this one was too close to the actual startup and needs to be adjusted. I don't think this will have much if any impact on future flights as they'll adjust that monitor point now.

I loved it that Felix used a dr Strange pez dispenser to convey how starship will have that narrow slot to dispense starlink satellites.
I had made a silly remark a few years ago that he looks a little like The MCU dr Strange.

I'll betcha lifting the F5 booster to height following the catch was to test the stretch of the cables.

I loved the touch of painting the satelite camo pattern right as he said "modified for military use". :D

At 9:58 you can see a rarefaction wave sweeping over the marsh as the multi-engine start shockwave bounces off the ground. That is one LOUD boom.

I think they will need at least two successive and successful booster catches after which they will catch the ship.

I’m glad they identified the problem to be fixed without having major time delays.

The only video I watched that actually explained all the info from that audio session. Great job, Felix and the team!

SpaceX is aware of the issue and will make sure it doesn’t happen again!

19:29 how about they get a single orbital flight done and then we can maybe, just maybe think about the possibility that blue origin may actually complete an orbital flight

very good, informative video. I was wondering what that one second from disaster meant as I heard it from two sources and you explained it perfectly!
